French Fry Discipline
Instead of the normal "pulling a card" or punching a hole in an object, let's get creative! When students misbehave, have them get rid of a fry! While this sounds crazy at first, it really isn't. Before school starts, collect enough large McDonald's french fry containers for every student. Get out your favorite sharpie and write each child's name on the front. Then, spray paint 4-6 clothespins yellow per student. These will be clipped on the edge of the fry containers that are placed on the bulletin board. When a student breaks one of your classroom rules, they must take a fry off of their container and place it inside. If you want to spend the extra time, you can number the fries and put corresponding consequences for each time a child is sent back. For example, you may have: 1. Lose 5 minutes of recess. Depending on how you run your classroom, you can reset these every week or month, whichever suits your classroom best. Summer is here so now is a great time to start collecting these for next year (you might want to grab some friends as well)!
