“You two are so cute together!”
Virgil smiled, shaking his head. “We’re not -”
Before he could finish his sentence, the old woman had walked off, continuing to feed the birds.
Pat tugged on his hand. “Vee, let’s go!”
The two of them headed back to their apartment. Patton unlocked the door, allowing Virgil to take the groceries off his arm. Virgil put them on the counter and began unbagging them, which allowed Patton to put them away in their proper places.
“Why do so many people think we’re together?” Virgil ranted as he unpacked.
“It’s not like we’ve ever kis- okay there was that one time at a party, but that was spin the bottle.”
“And yeah, we cuddle, but people need that sort of thing, according to Logan.”
“And we’re roommates - oh my god.” Virgil nearly dropped the eggs in his hands. “Oh my god, are we - have we -”
Patton crossed the kitchen, taking the eggs out of Virgil’s trembling hands and putting them on the counter. “I thought we were taking things slow.”
“You thought we were dating too?”
A tiny giggle fell from Patton’s lips. “Would dating be so bad?”
“No, actually I’ve loved you for years, but knowing that we were dating would’ve been nice.” As soon as the words were out in the air, Virgil slapped a hand over his mouth and blushed a deep red.
“How about we make today official then?” Patton tilted his head. “Be my boyfriend?”
Virgil nodded, removing his hand and leaning forward. “Shall we seal the deal?”
