The transformation was slow this time. Pain steadily seeped through Wyvern's veins as his body itched to change. He hated the nights it went slowly. His skin shifted uncomfortably as his ears filled with sounds he wished not to hear. Wyvern had to get up, he knew he did but his heavy bones wouldn't let him go.

He struggled against his own body, tossing and turning until he managed to push himself off the bed. Spikes of agony shoot through Wyvern's body as he makes contact with the ground, holding back a pained scream that threatened to escape. Fuck he didn't have time for this. Wyvern tried to get to his feet but his legs seemed to have a different idea as they shifted too much for him to control. With a groan of frustration he uses his arms to drag himself out of the room. Wyvern could feel his jaw starting to split as blood fills part of his mouth. He struggles keep it from spilling on floor as he continues to drag himself across it to the bathroom.

And maybe it was the rushing sound in his ears or the pain shooting through his body that kept him from focusing, but Wyvern had failed to notice the sound of footsteps. Soft and light footsteps that he would have been able to recognize if he was just paying attention. But he couldn't miss the sound of a piercing scream that came from a voice he knew all too well, and he freezes.

"Wyvern! There's weird demon thing out here!" Sakura shrieks as she sees this creature in front of her that reeks of rotting flesh. "Wyvern, answer me! It's right in front of your room!" She looks over to his room door and sees it wide open, no Wyvern in sight. Her eyes then shift back to the creature and now that she is actually looking, it looks familiar. Not just familiar damn near the same. "Wyvern?"

That's when he finally looks over, blood having spilled on the floor as his jaw fully slits. A pained expression crosses his usually neutral face, and he croaks out in a voice that Sakura has never heard before "yeah?" His voice was glitchy like he was speaking through a broken earpiece

Sakura looked confused as she continued to stare at him "What happened?"

This Was Not the Plan

Featuring: Wyvern, Mammon, Ironhide, Sakura 🥳

They just needed to grab a bounty. Instead, they burned half a town square. Again..

There was a rule they tried to follow:

“No fire. No explosions. No drama.”

They’d never once followed it.

“You see that guy?” Wyvern murmured through the comms, crouched behind a pile of scrap in the alleyway. “Green jacket, glass eye, ugly moustache.”

“That’s like four guys in this town,” Ironhide whispered back, flat against a wall and armed to the teeth.

“No, the one picking his nose,” Sakura said helpfully.

“I WILL hit him just for that,” Mammon added.

“Focus!” Wyvern hissed. “He’s our target. We go quiet, fast, non-lethal.”

Mammon cracked his knuckles.

Ironhide chambered something that shouldn’t fit in that gun.

Sakura was already halfway up a roof.

Wyvern sighed. “You’re all chaos gremlins.”

“And you love us,” Sakura chirped.

“…Regretfully.”

The plan was simple: Mammon would block the alley. Ironhide would intercept from the front. Wyvern would talk. Sakura would drop in from above.

In theory, perfect.

In practice?

Sakura missed.

She landed two feet to the left of the guy, crunched through a fruit stand, and shrieked, “I’M FINE,” while covered in pineapple.

Wyvern lunged.

Ironhide launched a smoke grenade.

Mammon threw the entire alley trash bin like a discus and knocked out the wrong guy.

Suddenly, there were firecrackers. Somewhere.

Someone (probably Sakura) yelled “HE BIT ME!”

The bounty took off running—with Ironhide chasing him, Mammon trying to help but accidentally barreling through a tavern, and Sakura flinging grapes like grenades.

Wyvern, deadpan in the smoke, muttered, “So much for non-lethal.”

Ten minutes later…

There was a small fire.

A building may or may not have collapsed.

Mammon carried the unconscious bounty over one shoulder, Sakura had fruit guts in her hair, Ironhide was limping and bleeding—but grinning—and Wyvern was covered in soot and what suspiciously looked like marmalade.

“You know what?” he said, deadpan. “Not bad. Only mild arson this time.”

Sakura cheered. “Team improvement!”

“Technically the tavern still stands,” Ironhide offered.

Mammon gave a thumbs up with a bloodied glove.

They all collapsed on a bench, sweaty and victorious.

“Drinks?” Sakura asked.

“God, yes,” Wyvern groaned.

Ironhide raised her blaster. “I’ll pay.”

“YOU BLEW UP THE CASH,” Wyvern hissed.

Mammon shrugged. “We still have the bounty.”

“Who bit me?” Sakura suddenly demanded. “I never got closure.”
