Biting Creature would probably taste gross. Rotted skin and stuff.
(Wouldn't that leave a hickey also)
I bite EVERY blorbo regardless of how biteable they actually are. No discrimination here /silly
Also, i dont think biting creature in particular would leave a hickey? I dont think it would for most of the characters actually since full on BITING someone is different from giving them a hickey but, like, the thing about rotting corpses is that—actually, let me put this under a read more since discussing blood and rotting corpses is probably not something most people wanna hear:
(TLDR; Corpses can't bruise like that because of their circulatory system not functioning but—depending on the accuracy of Creature's build—something similar could probably maybe happen?)
Okay so like i was saying; the thing about corpses it that, after some time, their blood stops circulating because the heart gives out from. Well...whatever the cause of death was...and the blood eventually settles at the lowest parts of the body with the help of gravity, which causes ✨️ LIVOR MORTIS ✨️ (IM SO EXCITED TO TALK ABOUT RHE STAGES OF ROT) which is when lividity—the reddening of the skin with purply tones—sets in.
This causes the red blood cells to burst from acidity (though this isnt as important for our purposes, the white blood cells start giving out and essentially self-destructing which stops everything entirely. the enzymes specifically get to the tissue and thats autolysis i think? It also turns your organs into mush) and become all gooey. This is why the blood (along with other fluids) eventually come to seep through the skin and leak out everywhere, besides the muscle relaxation thing; the free space left by the now-sunken blood makes it easy for gases to find space within the body. That eventually causes the build-up of gases and the release of more purge liquids and occasional make bodies go KABOOM! They can literally pop open and combust from the internal pressure and all that's inside falls riiiiight out even moreso! It's a messsss. There's a video of a whale carcass doing that in the wayer somewhere on the news methinks?
Note that the fluids that soak out are usually called purge fluids.
Anyhow, let's get into the actual hickey part: hickyes are caused by teeny tiny blood vessels called capillaries that are beneath the skin being "stuck" in place. When you pinch the skin down with your teeth or mouth, you essentially trap the vessels because you tug the skin in such a way that it captures the vessels beneath the skin, which is now being pressed against whatever other piece of skin your teeth/lips/whatever is holding it down against, and keeps them locked in place from the pressure.
Just so we're clear, doing this is usually NOT very harmful though it can be at times. :p its not as scary as it sounds tho. If i remember correctly, the little spots of blood that occasionally can be seen are called like...petechiae? Petachiae? Too lazy to check. Petichiae?
The capillaries are kind of like the insides of a glowstick in the sense that they're the thin layer of glass beneath the plastic of the stick (skin) itself, holding the liquid in until the glass (capillary) is broken with pressure so that the liqiud can interact with the other chemicals in the tube. The capillaries break from the pressure, and then the blood is trapped against the skin from the biting/sucking which thus causes the blood to pool into that one place against the skin and appear bright red or purple, hence the bruising.
Eventually, the body reabsorbs the blood back into its natural habitat (/silly) so the mark fades away.
BASICALLY ONE MAJOR PART OF THIS IS THE FACT THAT THE CORPSE, NOT HAVINF A FUNCTIONING CIRCULATORY SYSTEM TO PUMP BLOOD INTO THE CAPILLARIES, WON'T HAVE BLOOD VESSELS TO BE TRAPPED INTO ONE AREA IN THE FIRST PLACE. THE VESSELS ALREADY WENT "POP!" AND TURNED INTO SLUDGE THAT HAS PROBABLY LEAKED OUT OF THE BODY BY NOW! :D
Now, granted, Creature IS made to be different from a human, right? Obviously, their skin patches appear to remain stagnant on terms of like...general state of decay and there's no signs of them suddenly leaking out blood and stuff out of nowhere. Like it's not ACTIVELY rotting, just stuck in one stage of rot without progression or regression. Plus, Frankenstein likely did have to give them blood or a blood substitute, right? Depending on the kind of substitute, different results would most certainly occur, but I think that—in the most general sense—it's safe to assume that a bruise-like sort of thing WOULD likely occur assuming that Creature was built PRECISELY with those capillaries and such. (Though the seams, sutures, parted skin, and other stitchings would probably need to be taken into account.) The colour of the bruise probably's gonna come out different, I reckon, if whatever lifeblood Creature's got pumping is a different colour to bood. Not to mention that their skin discolouration from rot (also! The specific colours a body changes into during each stage of decay are usually the outward signs of when the body has gone through that state of decay) might play a factor in how the bruise looks outwardly.
So, assuming that Creature has the capillaries and stuff right beneath the skin like a human, PROBABLY could get a hickey. I doubt they just had all their blood pooled into their legs the entire time? That would be ouchie as fuck and a sensory nightmare???
Now, I did keep this post ambiguous as to WHICH Frankenstein media i was referring to because i figured this could work for most versions, but this ask was about Creature from THE GLASS SCIENTISTS WEBCOMIC BY SAGE COTUGNO. The rest is basically benign to anyone who doesn't know TGS buuut for those who do or for those who are just curious...
(Cough cough)
(Mild spoilers for TGS)
ALL OF THIS WAS KIND OF POINTLESS. LIKE THIS ENTIRE TANGENT? I KNEW THAT FROM THE BEGINNING BECAUSE I'VE DOWNLOADED EVERY PANEL WITH CREATURE AND FRANKENSTEIN IN IT AT ALL AND THERE'S ONE THING I NEVER FORGET BECAUSE IT'S SO JARRING TO ME:
(And note that none of this is being read in a negative tone just a very baffled one)
CREATURE THE MAJORITY OF THEIR ARM TORN OFF EITHER BY THE SEAMS OR BY IT BEING BURNT OFF WITH THE FLAMETHROWER. LIKE A FULL THREE QUARTERS OF IT.
AND THERE'S NOT A SINGLE DROP OF BLOOD. NOT EVEN VISIBLE PROTRUDING BONE? NO HUMEROUS, NO CAPITELLUM, NO RADIUS, NO RADIAL HEAD, NO ULNA, LATERAL EPICONDYLE, NO MEDIAL EPICONDYLE, NO TROCHLEA, NO NOTHIN. NOT A SINGLE ARM BONE TO BE SEEN.
LIKE IT'S LITERALLY JUST RIGHT THERE. JEKYLL IS LITERALLY JUST HOLDING IT. IT'S SCORCHED AS HELL (off topic but love how detailed these covers are. you can see the parted skin beneath the sutures and the tugging lines around some of the staples and the the nails being chipped and the torn skin at the top. Its so awesome it reminds me of the first really detailed scenes of Creature during the first few pages they starred in* bUT ANYWAY) AND SMOKE IS STILL COMING FROM IT BUT NO BLOOD. which, to be fair, the flamethrower might only have done first-degree burns that wouldn't have broken through blood vessels but if Creature actually had blood that would certainly be spilling when they got their arm torn off.
AND THE ARMS JUST DO KIND OF JUST SEEM HOLLOW ON THE INSIDE? Again, nothin! :3
OR. IS ALL THE BLOOD LITERALLY JUST STILL SUNKEN INTO THE LEGS LIKE WE SPOKE SBOUT EARLIER? Like i joked about it earlier but im just now realizing that maybe that happened. I highly doubt it but blehhh
And it's not like Creature doesn't have bones entirely methinks (In the picture above, i think they have a bone visible behind their head but I couldn't identify what type of bone it is for the life of me)
Creature is also shown having collarbones a couple of times so we have to presume theres bone there but none in the arm! I'm confused as to how thst would work but yknow what im tired and i spend a good portion of my time trying to figure out wtf is up with Creature /aff
So to answer the original question: TGS Creature in particular probably wouldn't get sny bruises from being mauled!
...
HOW LONG HAVE I SPENT TYPING THIS. WE LEFT HOME AT 3 PM-ISH AND ITS 6 PM NOW AND IM AT A HOTEL NOW.
hfhshebfhdjdbfjjsnd nevermind then
I HOPED YOU LIKE THE LESSON I GUESS??? I hope someone learnt something from this 😭 i spent too long on this,,, I had fun typing it all day but i miss my oomfs i need to go talkto them ahain for enrichment im TIREDDD AUGH anyways
'TWAS A NICE DAY TO SPEND NEW YEARS' EVE! HAPPY NEW YEARS <3 LOVE YOU ALL
* LOOK AT CREATURE IN THIS EARLY PANEL.
ITS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE PANELS BECAUSE YOU CAN SEE THE DETAIL!! Like, again, you can see the tug lines from the suture's at some places and the SKIN PARTING IS SHOWN. ITS SO COOL TO ME. YOU CAN SEE WHERE CREATURE'S SKIN PARTS ON THE SHOULDER, THAT LOWER LEFT CORNER, AND EVEN JUST IN THE SMALL LINES OF THE SHOULDER. ITS ON CREATURE'S FACIAL STITCHING AT THE CHEEK TOO AND ITS SO FUCKING AWESOME
And there's that other part on the other side of his face near the left where you can tell that there's a little gap between the patches of skin,,, im so normal about little details in art im SO NORMAL
