The barefoot Donald and Peigi MacIntyre have gone together to bring home peat in the creels on their backs. The creels are not filled to the brim so it seems likely that they are carrying only as much weight as they can. This was a task that could usefully be done by children who probably often enjoyed going off on their own to where the peat was drying.

Credit to @bbcscotnews : A village on the shores of a west Highlands sea loch is celebrating Christmas with a 9m (30ft) tree" made from fishing gear. The tree, made from creels used for catching shellfish, has become a tradition in Ullapool since it was first constructed in 2016. Simon Eltingham (left) and Gordon Wink put the finishing touches to this year's harbour-side decoration, which has been made using 340 creels.
