To be fair, he really had meant to wait. He’d even rehearsed it in his head–blink in, say hi, ask Auggie how he was doing, maybe throw Hopper’s ball a few times. Ease into it. Be normal. Casual. He managed exactly none of that. The moment he blinked in, all that careful planning evaporated. He popped into existence right behind Auggie, grin already splitting his face, buzzing with the kind of energy that made it impossible to stand still. Before Auggie could even turn around, the words were out of him, loud and bright and entirely unfiltered. “Auggie–I have a boyfriend!!” It felt ridiculous the second it left his mouth. Too much, too fast, said with the enthusiasm of someone who hadn’t slept and was running entirely on adrenaline and joy. He just stood there, rocking on his heels, eyes shining, waiting for the reaction like a kid who couldn’t keep a secret one second longer.
