The resistance against the pulling lasts only a moment. If nothing else, The Surgeon knows his place. Teeth lock together, bare out at Mikala, but do not lash out. One does not bite the hand that feeds, after all, unless that same one knows a better food source. As of now, there is none better than the witch that forces him to his knees and already has desire curling up in the pit of his stomach.

His gaze tilts up even as he's pulled closer, his cheeks flushing at his proximity, at the look he's being given. His chin raises, just enough to expose more of his throat under the collar of his turtleneck.

His voice is low, but it understands. It knows. Jedetta was not shooting in the dark.

It felt good to remember the happiness he had in his life when they were facing more darkness on the horizon.

The mystery was solved but only after Miray was attacked again. "I'm sorry they called you but you didn't have to come. I'll be fine." Sitting in a hospital bed waiting to be seen, in pain and exhausted. Totally fine.

As far as he's concerned, he's made it. He's one of the oldest vampires in the world and he's content in doing what he does to survive, so what drives him is the simplicity of surviving. His raves ( and the preparation and puzzles to inspire anticipation about getting in ) take up a lot of time and mental stamina, as he tries to ensure he hasn't done the same thing too close together, but there's never any need to outdo himself, as he's content with the set up he has going for him.

As long as that to stimulate him and the ranch and animals in Texas to keep him happy, he's extremely content with where he is at his extremely long unlife.

               "Are you sure you want to test me?" What Lahja knew of Matti's skillset from when he was a human opposed to what he had become as a vampire were two totally different beasts. As a human, the most one could call it would be roughhousing. Now? He could pinpoint the perfect places to knock someone out without breaking a sweat or, at worst, kill them with perfect , horrifying precision. Whether they be human or vampire or whatever ghoulish creatures that shared the night with them.

"Maybe we can say that this is finally me getting one over you?" While he didn't move to put himself into a position to physically fight her, it could be noted that his demeanour did stiffen just slightly, just to ensure that he was being taken seriously. "What say you, sister?"
