We fly on back to the UK now, more specifically Wales. And more specific than that, Snowdonia National Park which is famous for the second highest mountain in the UK at 3,560ft. The entire range of hills and mountains were formed from rocks dating back 484 million years as a result of volcanic activity. After the super-continent of Pangea was broken up and the mountain range had been pushed above sea level, glaciation made its mark as it carved out valleys and left steep mountain faces such as Crib Goch which can be seen in the photo above (centre left). As alpine as it gets outside of the Alps, this is a breathtakingly dramatic place to visit (and it's right on the doorstep of England!). Whether it be a walk up the leisurely "Miners' Track" or a challenging scramble up Crib Goch, this historic, geographically complex and simply beautiful place must be explored by all!
