We fly on back to the UK now, more specifically Wales. And more specific than that, Snowdonia National Park which is famous for the second highest mountain in the UK at 3,560ft. The entire range of hills and mountains were formed from rocks dating back 484 million years as a result of volcanic activity. After the super-continent of Pangea was broken up and the mountain range had been pushed above sea level, glaciation made its mark as it carved out valleys and left steep mountain faces such as Crib Goch which can be seen in the photo above (centre left). As alpine as it gets outside of the Alps, this is a breathtakingly dramatic place to visit (and it's right on the doorstep of England!). Whether it be a walk up the leisurely "Miners' Track" or a challenging scramble up Crib Goch, this historic, geographically complex and simply beautiful place must be explored by all! Next on our list are the imposing alpine mountains of Italy, Cervinia to be precise. Snowboarding is one of my passions and this place is one of the best. Shadowed by the Matterhorn, a monstrous 200 million year old, 4,478 metre tall mountain, Cervinia is truly a place of outstanding stature. The mountain known locally as ‘White Top’, has claimed over 500 lives, some of which would have been searching for the view that stretches as far as the Austrian alps and Mont Blanc.

The immense grandeur of the old horn is only matched by the beauty of its winding glaciers that enable year-round boarding. With global warming taking devastating effect on alpine glaciers however, who knows how long this wonderful area will be open to enjoy and admire.

Anyone looking for a summer time adventure or a thrilling winter escape, there is no place, and I mean NO place, better than Cervinia.

We start our journey in the south of England, my home country. This photo is of a place I have visited myself, Durdle Door. Simple but effective in it's beauty, it stretches out along the coast of the Purbecks. An arch formed by the sea attracts thousands of tourists each year and is protected as a national treasure. The rock that makes it is thought to be 140 million years old but i am sure it has a few years left. If you ever decide to venture out to the Jurassic Coast I strongly recommend visiting this old friend and it's surrounding areas of Lulworth Cove, Old Harry Rocks and Swanage Bay.

Introduction

This is my first post, so yeah! This is basically going to be a blog about where awesome places are that I want to go and places that look generally cool.
