Prowl had heard the twins coming up behind him, but hadn't turned toward them. His mind was occupied by the shifting equations and data points displayed on the screens around him and filtering through his data cables. Therefore Sideswipe caught him by surprise by simply climbing up on his lap and sitting across Prowl's legs, facing him and somehow managing to give the impression of weighing twice what his specification said he did.
"Sideswipe?" Prowl looked from one brother to the other. "What's wrong?"
≗ At first it had been a murmur, a deep bass that was joined by a baritone laugh. Not one mech, but two. "Primus, do I love you Sunny or what~?" The baritone asked almost jokingly. "If we ever find 'the one' I hope he can see you the way I do too."
Blaster blinked rapidly, slightly confused but smiling slowly. It kind of made sense in a way, but, better to let them come to him.

A Plan Broken
He'd searched the base first. Then he'd checked their destination. Sideswipe had not left early to view the canyon cut by the Colorado River. Nor was he answering his comm calls. No one had seen him since his last duty shift. As inquiry after inquiry produced no explanation, Prowl found it harder to suppress his anxiety and think clearly. Sideswipe had quickly become his best (and very nearly only) trusted friend in this new reality. Prowl had grown accustomed to waking from recharge with the smaller bot tucked in against his chest, and when he'd woken alone, well before their scheduled departure time, confusion had very quickly given way to alarm.
One more option. Prowl strode into the space bridge control area with his doors held firmly still and attentive and his expression impassive. He tapped the keys on the unfamiliar interface, and found his way to the transmission logs. There, he found it. Sideswipe had accessed the bridge, well after the middle of their sleep cycle. He'd set it to go...there was only a cryptic note in the database. "Enforced Neutral." Intrigued and worried, Prowl reset the bridge, did come calculations according to the logs, then activated and walked through the portal, bracing himself to face a fight.

But not in the sense that this question probably means. Prowl is an acting officer, and the rules state that there should be no relations between officers and soldiers, but Prowl doesn't care.
