À LA DISPOSITION {INTANGIBLE}

Directional fashion label À La Disposition has launched its first fragrance, well two or three dependant on how you look at it. The unisex perfume {intangible} presented in a sleek black skull bottle houses 2 separate scents that can be used singularly or in conjunction with one another. 

Both fragrances share the same base and middle notes of soft golden amber and sleek smokey sandalwood with hints of velvety white musk. The difference lies with the top notes; one scent offering a hint of Sicilian lemon whilst the other stays true to the bohemian with a touch of musk.

Commenting on their aromatic venture Lynda and Daniel Kinne inform us "The name {intangible} describes the idea of fragrance. The word is intrinsically linked with scent and conjures up a certain mystique, which is what we wanted to create with both the dual scents and the bottle design.”

OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL

On Wednesday night TWENTY6 was invited to a sneak preview of Disney's latest feature. With individual bags of wicked-witch-green popcorn on each seat The Empire cinema at Leicester Square was filled with avid viewers. Seated in the back row, we surveyed the colossal space and were eager to see what this Wizard of Oz prequel had to offer. After a quick introductory speech the film began, with no preview adverts as a bonus! The film is cinematographically stunning, expect a nomination for visual effects and costume awards in the near future. The fantastical story plays out with building grandeur, concluding (and we don't consider this a spoiler) with a disney happily ever after ending. Thoroughly entertaining, synopsis below, trailer above.  

Disney’s fantastical adventure “Oz The Great and Powerful,” directed by Sam Raimi, imagines the origins of L. Frank Baum’s beloved wizard character. When Oscar Diggs (James Franco), a small-time circus magician with dubious ethics, is hurled away from dusty Kansas to the vibrant Land of Oz, he thinks he’s hit the jackpot—fame and fortune are his for the taking—that is until he meets three witches, Theodora (Mila Kunis), Evanora (Rachel Weisz) and Glinda (Michelle Williams), who are not convinced he is the great wizard everyone’s been expecting. Reluctantly drawn into the epic problems facing the Land of Oz and its inhabitants, Oscar must find out who is good and who is evil before it is too late. Putting his magical arts to use through illusion, ingenuity—and even a bit of wizardry—Oscar transforms himself not only into the great and powerful wizard but into a better man as well.

HAIZHEN WANG    

The SS13 Fashion Fringe winner, the boy who came from NE China has certainly done good in WC2 London. As the final show of the season with added prestigious accolade receiving pressure on top the designers collection that continued from SS13 by admiring the bold and extravagant designs of Gothic periods from days gone by.

Highly architectural pieces which based their centre of structure at the waist. Wang used brilliant red leather, rough herringbone wool, snakeskin details and accompanying metal bodices and abstract neckpieces. Reinforced jackets extended out from the body and impressed as much as the linear dresses with cut backs and complicated draping.

Hair and make-up added Asian edge with mysterious lines painted across the models faces, some where then masked with peaked visors while their hair was pulled and taped to create a spout that cascaded and pinned to the back of the visors, a look that I can only describe as Kung-Fu chic. 

A collection that came out with attack Wang impressed the abundant western and significant Chinese press in attendance. Even in my haste to get to a comfy bed with London Fashion Week now technically over I managed to overhear numerous “excellent” ‘s from domestic editors and “Yōuxiù”’s from their Chinese counterparts which can be approximately translated as superb. At TWENTY6 we are effortlessly inclined to agree.

HEOHWAN SIMULATION 

Colliding the political with the artistic designer Hwan Heo introduced pieces inspired by the 1968 riots in France.  The geopolitical aestheticism worked as garments with patchworks of silk, velvet, fur and pony skin were sent down the catwalk.

Experimental yet wearable collaboration with United Nude footwear was a perfect partnership that complimented the fabrics. The angular shoes were architecturally intricate mirroring the graphic structures in the featured outwear. Bringing politics to fashion can often be risky yet the Korean designer managed to tap into a niche political event and made it work.

The RunWay Collective will give the fashion industry professionals unique insight to a new wave of talent from Istanbul and a greater understanding of the fashion scene and design culture.

RunWay Collective enjoys an unrivalled reputation for identifying and supporting the most exciting new international womenswear names. With a long history of clothing culture, Turkey and Turkish designers are playing an increasingly significant role in the world’s fashion industry.

Turkish Designers are devout believers: against the odds, they deliver beauty in its purest forms, keeping alive the constant hope that beyond the horizon lays a promised land. RunWay Collective invites you onto the culteral journey into Istanbul. Where colour, texture and print unite with silhouettes drawn from regional culture, blended with meaningful combinations of times past. The enchantment of Turkish culture revisited through the modern individual works of designers that range from clothing to accessories.

Each season, RunWay Collective will introduce up to three emerging womenswear designers and place them on the catwalk at London Fashion Week. RunWay Collective will work with them to present a diverse collective of individual talent to the UK, international press and buyers attending London Fashion Week.

One to one mentoring with RunWay Collective panel members will help fast tract the designers’ into the competitive market by showcasing at one of the major cities for Fashion Week. They work alongside and nurture designers throughout the creative process from concept to catwalk and guidance from styling, production and PR. This enables designers to develop and establish themselves in UK and international markets.
