Okay kids. Here’s where I’m at:

1. I want to bring this party back. I loved it and my life is probably settled enough where I can dedicated an hour or so a day to a different project that’s not my job.

2. I love critink, but I want to do it better this time. More thought-out, more interactive, more of a group-project, and with less (but higher-quality) content.

3. I’m not really sure what that looks like.

So here are my questions:

1. What did you like most about critink?

2. What did you like least?

3. What would you like to see in addition to basically memes, cool pictures, a bit of history, and art critiques?

HELLO! I lt seems like I’m still getting a ton of post and reblogs. And I still have about 10k followers.

BUT I HAVEN’T POSTED IN TWO YEARS.

Tumblr, I took a two year break to build my dream job. It was worth it, but I want to come back.

Is anyone still here?

Is anyone still interested in #critink?

I’m ready to get back into the business of talking tattoos if anyone is still listening--even just a few of you--but I don’t know if after spending two full orbits around the sun building my dream job, I have the energy left to build this blog up from scratch.

Hey guys!

If you submit a photo of your tattoo to me, I will critique it! I'd like to critique tattoos (similar to what Critink does) and put the skills I've learned as a studio art major to good use. I'd like to only critique user submitted tattoos though, so please send yours in!

I thought that what Critink was doing was really great, and I'd like to help  continue it.

Little rant

I am going to rant about this once and then I'll be good. I don't care if you get sugar skulls, gypsies or frankly /anything/ tattooed on you. But for the LOVE. OF. GOD. please know what it means. I'm not going to educate you on sugar skulls because that is not my culture. I know nothing about them. I do however, know plenty about gypsies. I have five family members that were Hungarian gypsies during WWII. They were in a concentration camp and no I don't know which one. The man of that family went to get his tattoo and kicked a nazi in the face. Let's repeat that for emphasis. He kicked a Nazi in the face. Yes of course he was killed. The rest of his family lived through it though. They continued on with their lives, kicked out of their homeland and continued to wander Europe. My family was beautiful, and they were ridiculously brave. The youngest daughter married a non-wanderer and continued our family line. She was still wild and many a story go through our family where her husband would wake up and find her camping in the yard. I love my heritage, and I do plan on getting a gypsy tattoo. I know what being a gypsy is about and the sacrifices they were forced to make. So I don't care what you do but please, do it with respect.

This collaboration was done by Jeff Paetzold and Tim Pangburn back in 2007 while both gents were working at All or Nothing in Smyrna.  Jeff is back up in the Chicago area now, while Tim owns Art Machine Productions up in Philly.  This tattoo took about seven hours total, with both of them working the whole time.  I had so much fun I ended up getting another collaboration by them in 2008!

This tattoo has unfortunately been copied MANY times by a number of terrible artists, and I feel so bad for anyone wearing the work from those hacks.
