4/20/22: Importance of learning how to take criticism
No one in this life is perfect. Yet, most people, especially pre-health students, tend to strive for perfection. What this entails is that students tend to be extremely hard of themselves; often times, we are our hardest critique. This also means that it is difficult to take criticism from anyone other than yourself. However, taking criticism is undoubtedly a skill that everyone should learn. The reason being is that criticism is often constructive, so it is targets the things that we are doing incorrectly or the things that we can be better at. It is not meant to hurt our pride or feelings. For example, if a teacher severely critiques your essay, it is because the teacher sees that there are skills that need to be honed and techniques that you need to work on. By taking the criticism with an open mind, one can experience improvement. With this in mind, taking criticism is important because it allows one to become a better version of themselves.
