Crocodilopolis: A Novel
By John Manuel Arias.
Sobek; ‘Lord of the Waters’, ‘He who loves robbery’, ‘He who eats while he also mates’, Crocodile . Sobek is a pretty complex guy, and there’s so much that could be said about him but the only important thing that you need to know is that one of the biggest centres of worship for this vicious crocodile-headed god was Crocodilopolis. What a name. What a place. Crocodiles from Crocodilopolis were also seen as sacred and they were mummified when they died, sometimes with baby mummified crocodiles in their mouth. How much scarier would The Mummy have been if Boris Karloff was an undead crocodile that spat miniature undead crocodiles from his mouth as he chased you down? #sobek #crocodilopolis #egyptianmythology #egyptiangods #streetwear #streetwearofthegods #illustration #houlart #houl (at Crocodilopolis) https://www.instagram.com/p/BzEO4cJhri6/?igshid=10gorihdnxdfv
Egyptian Labyrinth
Situated at Crocodilopolis. The lower chambers contained the bodies of the twelve founders of the building and the mummies of the sacred crocodiles, conferring on the building the character of a mausoleum, probably conjoined with a temple - that of Sebak, the crocodile-god.
