H - Do you prefer characters from real action series or anime series

I’d go with anime series after all, probably cause I’m familiar with oh so many absolutely stunningly written anime characters, but clearly there are worthy characters in real action series too!

I - Has tumblr caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why

It wasn’t as directly related, but tumblr did influence my opinion of the PJO/HOO fandom, out of which I kinda sorta dropped out eventually. Back in the days people were acting like brattish kids and annoying the hell out of artists, that left a grim impression on me.

N - Your favorite fanfiction or fanauthor

Oh boy, that’s a bit difficult, but I’d probably go with boxofwonder, she wrote quite a few works I love deeply, and she pushed me so much further in this volleyball hell too.

A - Your current OTP

HHHHH Imma say kagehina, but I mostly ship them platonically, I really love their canon dynamics.

T - If you mostly have homoships, do you have any heteroships

I wouldn’t say I mostly have homoships, because tbh most of my M/M ships are can be platonic/romantic depending on my mood, but as for heteroships, I absolutely adore Suguru/Mika, Tanaka/Kanoka from Haikyuu, and also Roy/Riza and Ed/Winry from FMAB.

Hinata by default - but maybe Suga

The character you never expected to love so much:

Tanaka. He seemed like a loud dumbass who’s stupid about girls but he’s soooo much more!

I really liked everyone from the very beginning... But maybe Yuri or Sara?

Bakugou, for obvious reasons. He brings back nasty memories from my pre-high school years but his character development has been amazing.

The character you relate to  the most:

Oikawa or Yamaguchi. That certain niggling feeling of inferiority and also need to show everyone your worth, that’s familiar.

Yuuri, absolutely - I do not have his drive but his anxiety is very relatable

Tamaki :D prone to anxiety and negativity, I don’t know if i push through as well

The character you’d slap:

Miya Atsumu, goddamn he irritates me :D in all the best ways

Tsukki, though he was meant to be that way... Daishou too - and Miya twins (esp Atsumu haha), they were really irritating to me until the end of Inarizaki game, I forgave them a little

Good job responding to this. I'm sorry you had to see anyone being like this, but you must be doing something right to attract the attention of enough people to find someone like this with a lot of audacity and no sensitivity.

I mean, tbh, if that’s what people think of me and how I go about my personal life, I’d much rather they didn’t read my fic at all. but yeah, thanks. I was pretty angry when I was writing this haha.

I know, like in all my time on this hellsite I’ve never had anything this douchey or entitled. and like I wasn’t even going to post this but I thought I should put it out there for any future dickish anons with similar ideas. [shrug emoji] also my friend you’re wonderful too *hugs back*

You are without doubt one of the best people I know. That anon is not only rude but without any empathy at all. They no doubt think of themselves as enlightened for reading fic, and believe a smile solves everything. An exceptionally good answer, but you should never be put in the position where you have to detail your life to justify your blog because of an appalling ask. I hope they read your answer and not only leave you alone but consider how to approach people in the future. Take Care xx

thanks croll. the thing is I often write about emotional and psychological vulnerability in my fic so you’d think people who read it wouldn’t have that kind of apathetic mindset. but hey, who knows. I hope this person realises how much this kind of thing can hurt. I appreciate your support <3

a fucking men, my friend. the anon button is for people who wanna say hi or ask for advice or compliment someone but are shy. that’s the only reason I’ve ever used it, anyway.

Interesting question and a great answer. I do think anon has a point (ish) that if a writer ‘expects’ reads/kudos/comments but never gives anything back in return, then that’s a little … hmm … demanding, but I actually don’t know many writers that ‘expect’ anything without being willing to read etc in return. I don’t read comment nearly as much as I should or want to because I’m generally writing continually, but I try and do a catch up because I’m genuinely grateful to the fanfic community.

Yeah, I do get nonny’s point. If a writer is constantly asking for comments and feedback but never engages with the fandom or other writers, it’s a little offputting. (Also a writer who tells readers HOW to comment on their fics, like...wtf. You are the not the Fandom Pope.) But hey, if a writer does that and you don’t like it, you don’t have to comment, and you don’t have to engage. Most writers aren’t like that, anyway. My default is always to give someone the benefit of the doubt and assume good intentions when they do something that is weird or offputting. It’s only when it’s a consistent thing that I start to get leary.

I did read the other translation, all because the caps were splashed over twitter -sigh - but kept scratching my head. The whole Miyas joke about Atsumu getting annoyed because no one considered his feelings was lost. Also - side note - I liked how you had Tanaka saying ‘idiots’ rather than ‘morons’ because moron is a word I associate with Aran talking about the twins, and it goes to characterisation (this is the fanficcer in me - ha). Anyway, your translations are the best so thank you!

I actually think the word aran uses really is different to what tanaka used! the kansai folk use the word ‘aho’ a lot for ‘idiot’, it’s something friends say to each other a lot. Tanaka used ‘baka’, which is the word most people know to be ‘idiot’, but aho is a lot softer amongst kansai folk and baka less so, and the other way around for the kantou folk hahaha. :D I must have subconciously gone with a different word for similar reasons to you!!! like , wait, morons - that’s the word i used for aho - LOL didn’t even realise, glad it turned out well!

One other thing is, Tsukishima says, ‘so  BE THERE’, but the other translation had hinata saying ‘I’m here’, it’s not even Hinata’s dialogue though sigh : /// i think tsukishima saying ‘be there’ is more meaningful, it has a lot more oomph to it - anyway idk why i’m advocating this i just translated it the way the raws said lolol
