do we actually believe quartzine (cronan's mother) is trapped in that amulet or are we going with the cooler concept of him using that as a coping mechanism and she's actually dead and he's been talking to a gemstone for all of his life

I had an idea last night for a Lego Elves: Secrets of Elvendale au, where Cronan does… pretty much exactly the same evil things.

Except: he has no idea he’s doing them.

The amulet is screwing with his head really, really badly. He hasn’t noticed, because he’s been wearing it since he was so young, so he just assumes ‘oh, I have massive gaps in my memory, must be because I’m getting older, and my mom forgot me a lot of the time, so adults just forget lots of things’.

He genuinely doesn’t understand why things fell apart with him and Rosalyn, or why Ashwing got sick. He thinks he’s trying to help his forest, with the help of his goblin friends. The goblins don’t realise they’re being controlled, either.

So he’s just a slightly awkward teenager, doing teenager things, with constant black outs, who gets possessed by shadow creatures through the amulet, and has no idea he’s doing evil things half the time. Or that as that keeps happening, it’s slowly killing him. No, his hair turning white isn’t just because ’oh, old people problems’. Kid, you’re 17 (in elf terms), that’s not old.

Everything makes perfect sense to him, because… no frame of reference. So when he begs Nadia to help him get his mother back, and get the amulet, he doesn’t understand why she wouldn’t help him. He’s done nothing wrong, and he only really needs to borrow it. He respects her decision, though.

Sophie has the weirdest time with it, because she’ had the exact same “Why are you in a cage?” conversation with this guy enough times she can read both parts. He’s tried to set her free, always letting her out, and apologising when she tells him he locked her in there, and he doesn’t know why he would do that. She’s also then gone through the same he goes completely blank and I get put back in the cage by the shadow goop and the cage is moved somewhere else part that she just knows something is wrong with her ‘cousin’.

I dunno, it came from a dream. It had holes in it. Still does.

I find it an interesting thought, though. Cronan is just a nice guy, who has no idea he’s even got a problem. He just wants to fix things, and get his mom back. And maybe get his ex-girlfriend to speak to him again for long enough to explain what he did wrong…

I don't have a story for or about them yet... I figure for now they'll just be my little character inserts to play around in other peep's AUs (similarly to how @littlemissartemisia's Misa does)

At least until i can find out a plot for em

I do however know their duo dynamic -- they're basically the angel and the devil on your shoulder. Velli is the innocent angel; always ready to support you and be a positive force for goodness! Cronan is the mischievous devil; head full of schemes and plots that will be equal parts adventurous and disastrous. Velli and Cronan are best friends, basically brothers, and always have each other's backs. Think Gumball and Dawrin!

The two characters were entirely inspired by these crochet doodads I got from a craft fair

Number eight: Ani from Radiant Shadows (M. Marr). Unfortunatly I have no gif But there is a drawing of mine. Not too pleased with how it came out but better than nothing.
