Mile Castle and Rock Features Photo Set 2 at Steel Rigg, Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland, 14.4.18.
'Nature Through The Eyes Of The Romans' Exhibition Photo Set 1 at The Manchester Museum, 15.4.18. A new exhibition that explores the cultural significance of flora and fauna for Roman civilisation through the work of Pliny.
Rock Art at Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland, 14.4.18.
Northumberland is one of the richest counties for prehistoric rock art and the stretch of Roman wall at Steel Rigg seems to provide a dramatic backdrop for several examples of cup marks and grooves. Whether these existed pre-wall is of debate. Were they created by Romans idling away a moment or was this an occupational statement in regards to the construction of a Roman wall upon a native British sacred site? Are they more modern?
New Commission
We are very excited to announce that we have commissioned composer Colin Broom and visual artist Heather Lander to create a new collaborative work.
The new music will be performed by Residency Project alumni Maxwell Quartet and will be premièred in Glasgow this November as part of a special concert to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Residency Project and the music commissioned since it began in 2007.
This commission has been kindly supported by PRS for Music Foundation, Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, The Hope Scott Trust and Glasgow Life
Takeover Arts is a national programme piloted at firstsite and The Barbican with Kids in Museums
