Hey guys take a look at my cool new indie horror game concept
i love you petscop i love you ai builds i love you diminish i love you catastrophe crow i love you my house.wad i love you unfiction games that deal with grief and trauma in such a unique and beautiful way i love you i love you i love you
dude i haven't talked enough about how much i loved early catastrophe crow bc sitting there reading the community document in 2021 was pure bliss for me tbh. the puzzles in that arg were so unique and i wish shorts wars even came close to it. like for example how when you boot up the game there's a screen that's just a bunch of missing letters and as you discover the crow language codes that fill in those letters you get this intricate story about a man so desperate for connection with his children, so overwhelmed at the mere thought of losing his daughter that he lets the game practically consume him and all his employees are so confused. he tries reaching out to his son after years of not having talked a single time only for the fans of the arg to impersonate him and make it so much harder for him to find his real son.
and god it was so much fun thinking about it. tbh i feel like it went way downhill after the email thing because "tell me when and where me and my son would go for his birthday" was such a tall order with not enough clues that the fans got stuck for so long and then he pivoted to the pyramid clue, which got us even more confused, so much so that it took 4 more years, until the game was actually released to the public, to get enough information to solve the arg.
tbh i liked it better when the game wasn't real, it just added that level of mystery, it felt like watching videos of people playing the game was reaching into another reality that wasn't meant for your eyes, it was so great.

Prologue
You slowly feel yourself waking up on the beach. But as you blearily open your eyes, a pain shoots through your head. Your hand instinctively lifts to up your forehead.
The Charm: (groans) Oh, my head. I think I overdid it with the hot buttered rum.
???: Psychedelic! Oh, thank God you're awake!
You hear a voice calling towards you, their footsteps drawing nea-
???: Oh, do give it a rest, will you?
The Charm: Who said that?
???: I did. We've been looking all over for you.
As you slowly rise to your feet, you feel a pair of warm arms wrap around your arm, as if reaching out to help you up. Your head lifts up to the face of your saviour. Who is it?
???: I think she knows who I am.
The Charm: Hero?
The Hero: In the flesh! Or, feathers.
The Charm: How did you find me?
The Hero: After you left with the Narrator last night (gestures his head to the sharply dressed crow sitting on the rock next to you), your eagle flew in and told us that you were going to Goo's bonfire.
The giant eagle flaps down on a nearby branch, nodding his head in agreement.
The Hero: And then he led me to where I found you. I had to set up camp in the nearby forest or the others would have made me the main course. I watched you laughing with your friends, roasting marshmallows for s'mores, sharing personal stories. You all looked like you were having fun, though I was worried when you kept drinking.
The Charm: I know. I had too much to drink, and I'm sorry.
The Hero: That's alright. Now let's get you something to eat. I've foraged some fruit for us this morning.
The heroic one takes you by the hand as you both make your way towards the camp. But suddenly, your head turns back to the crow, and you stop.
The Charm: Wait! What about my friend?
Your friend? Who, me?
The Charm: Yes, you. You've been with me from the start. I'm not leaving you here all alone.
The Hero: Not sure how I feel about Him tagging along.
The Charm: Look, I'm the only one the Narrator can't take advantage of, because I AM the Narrator.
The Hero: Really? I never noticed that.
The Charm: Hero, we have to take Him with us. He's the only one who can tell this story.
The Hero: Fine, but you'd better keep Him under control.
The Charm: Duly noted. Let's go.
And so, the three of you, plus the eagle, make your way to the heroic one's camp. You can feel your stomach rumbling loudly. Thoughts of food dance in your head.
