Tuesday 15 January marks exactly my 5th week into my training and the 98 days point before London Marathon. 21st of April 2013. 26.2 miles. Flogging yourself on a course, your whole horizon reduced to the road ahead as you try to remember distances, calculate times and see your way through. Your training even harder as you go through the same places, paths, dull weather and annoying walkers, thinking how difficult it is to run 16 miles, let alone 26 and a bit.
Your narrow focus however, is balanced by the broader focus of hundreds of thousands of spectators who see the wider perspective, coming together to witness the mass spectacle of all those individual battles out on the course. And I sincerely hope people will cheer me on. Shout my name and urge me to "dig deep man, you can do it". I hope you will come too.
