pt. 2
anywho, i went on that spiel to talk about this:
Now that I'm an adult all that fatshaming and bodyshaming has pretty much ceased. I find this super odd since I've actually gained weight since my teen years (muscle gain notwithstanding) But now whenever i visit mom she tells me about how good I look and how nice my figure is.
I don't think I look too different from how I used to. At least, not as far as my body goes.My breast are even bigger now, as well as my butt. Face is still jacked up but i can't do shit about that. Skin on my face is a little bit clearer now that I'm not choking in hormones.
I dunno I just think the entire situation is really odd.
It could be that she actually still thinks I'm an overdeveloped slob, but she feigns approval since we see each other so rarely now. Or maybe she's given up her shaming ways.
she still shames me for other shit I can't help so I'm not really bankin on that last one.
I think all that really matters to me now is what I think about my body. I'm the one living in it so really it's up to me to decide if it's acceptable or not.
Storytime
For the first half of my life I was pretty fucking skinny. came out two months before schedule as a miserable little wrinkle bean baby, smaller than average toddler, bony little skinny squirt you get the idea.
I was also one of those unlucky kids that hit puberty early. At 11 years old I went from having the figure of a praying mantis to looking like a short 16 year old.
And along with that sudden change came sudden bodyshaming.
Surprisingly, most of this was from my dear ol' mama. Mom's not a bad person and I give her parenting skills a solid C- overall but holy shit did she have opinions about they way I looked.
mom was always a fat shamer. She had all kinds of comments for anyone overweight or even slightly chubby. As a kid I kinda ignored it. didn't really see what was so wrong with it.
Pre-puberty, I heard nothing but compliments. Oh how smooth my skin was, oh how much I looked like her and oh how pretty my face and eyes where.
Every time i complained about old clothes no longer fitting correctly mom would reply with a "maybe you shouldn't eat so much" or some other equally catty comment. I mean, I've always been a crap eater but at that time I pretty much only ate what mom made and school food. Mom wasn't on the up and up for healthy eating either, btw.
Fried gizzards and mashed potatoes every other day is good for the heart, right mama?
But the thing that separated us was that mom has a slight figure and light skin she meticulously took care of and I was a awkwardly-shaped kid with an acne ridden face.
It was really a one-two punch to the feelings because I was so used to my mom's uplifting comments on how beautiful and small I was.
She seemed to resent having to buy new clothes for me. At 12 I'd long outgrew any hand-me-down bras she'd tossed at me and most of my jeans and shirts just wouldn't cut it anymore.
She eventually just started buying packs of white tees and dumpy jogging suits for me to wear to school. I might be taking it the wrong way, but I always kinda interpreted that as some sort've passive aggressive jab at the way I looked.
(con't)
my mama calls pomegranates plummagrams.
so my mom operates on this mockery of an open door policy when it comes to
"you can tell me anything crow, i promise ill understand completely and won't get angry"
so when i was 18 i told her that i'd lost my virginity at 16.
she literally did not talk to me for a week.
and for a week after that she was angry at me and suspected that i was going out to have sex every time i left the damn house.
Shout out to crowmama, I hope she's feeling good after the surgery that I WAS NOT TOLD ABOUT.
