ooh they goona fight
Since Cryfeather is from a coastal region, she would 100% insult others by comparing them to pelicans
it could work both ways!
Cryfeather: you look like a sickly pelican that forgot to eat for three weeks
Emberdawn: I pelican whoop your ass
“An extra set of paws”
As he walked, Alderstar ran into Cryfeather- who was holding a soaking wet black and white kit by the scruff, and looking incredibly guilty. She hurried past Alder, and was almost out of sight before Alder processed what he had seen.
“Cryfeather! What do you have?” He scolded, chasing after her.
Cryfeather plopped the kit down and shuffled her paws awkwardly. “I just wanted to teach her how to swim.” She said, looking at the ground.
Alder bent down to look at the kit. Aside from being incredibly soggy, she seemed unharmed, and Alder picked her up, gesturing for Cryfeather to follow him.
He carried Goosekit back to the den, where Lupinefrost all but tackled him in her rush to check on her baby.
She looked at Cryfeather suspiciously, and Beechkit, with characteristic bad timing, piped up. “Oh!! She’s yellow and white! My bad!” Rowankit sighed beside her and buried his head in his paws.
Lupinefrost bared her teeth, and Cryfeather flinched. “I just wanted to teach your kits how to swim.. I should’ve asked first. I’m sorry, I just wanted them to learn how to swim so they could have fun in the river.”
Lupinefrost’s face softened. “What’s your name?” She asked.
“Cryfeather.”
Lupinefrost nodded. “Where are your parents?”
Cryfeather’s ears flattened down to her skull.
“I don’t have any.”
Lupinefrost nodded again. “Alderstar, is alright if I adopt her? Or at least make her my apprentice? Or both?”
Alder and Cryfeather both stared at Lupinefrost, then at each other, then back to Lupinefrost.
“Are you sure?” Alder asked. Lupinefrost nodded and smiled. “I could use an extra set of paws.” She said, gesturing to her litter, where two of the three kits were complaining about the ‘gross fishy smell, and teasing Goosekit about looking like a fish.
Alderstar turned to Cryfeather. “Are you ok with this?”
Cryfeather nodded, her face slowly lighting up as she realized what was happening.
Alderstar took a deep breath.
“Cryfeather, you have reached the age of-'' he looked at Cryfeather. “We’re gonna say six- moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you receive your warrior name, you will be known as Crypaw. Your mentor, and mother will be Lupinefrost, and I hope that Lupinefrost will pass down all she knows on to you.”
He turned to Lupinefrost, who was beaming at her new daughter.
“Lupinefrost, you are ready to take on an apprentice. You have received excellent training from-“ he paused, and Lupinefrost chuckled. “His name was Redtoad.”
Alder nodded and smiled. “What I assume was excellent training from Redtoad, and you have shown yourself to be both courageous and loyal. You will be the mentor and mother of Crypaw, and I expect you to pass on all you know to her.” He paused.
Lupinefrost touched her nose to Crypaw’s, and spoke gently and lovingly.
“You are grounded, little one.” She said, “For two moons.”
Crypaw mewed in distress, and Alderstar couldn’t help but laugh.
Lupinefrost kept talking. “You aren’t grounded because I’m upset, but you are grounded because you put your baby sister in danger, do you understand?”
Crypaw reluctantly nodded, and Lupinefrost smiled at Alderstar. “Thank you for collecting my little ones. I can take it from here.
Alderstar nodded, and left the new family to clean off the very soggy youngest member.
Notes:
- the epic conclusion!
- rip Crypaw,
=======================
the shift from "how dare you take my child" to "you're my child now" to "you're grounded, new child," is both sweet and hilarious. She wasted no time in asking to adopt her
Just had the worst idea:
Perch and Stump try to take care of the Begoniaweb kits by themselves, rather than taking them to the queens.
This gets them in BIG trouble when they’re caught stealing prey from Starclan to feed the babies. However, Perch is stubborn, and doesn’t want to admit why he was stealing prey, so he gets big-time grounded, leaving Stump to take care of the babies by himself.
Stump then recruits Cryfeather and Magpie to help, and they all try their best to take care of the little ones by themselves while Perch gets continuously lectured by his parents.
oh perfect timing 'cause I may or may not have a big reason for cats to start stealing prey
Cry would have to be physically hauled out of the water. I think she’d get too enthusiastic with training, and almost drown her apprentice once or twice
happens to the best of us
Of my ocs:
Hawkwhistle and Lola train the trainees together (battle wives)
Heronclaw trains really hard
Bristleblaze would train reluctantly, but only bc some trainees (Kiteshadow) won’t stop trying to fight him
Tigereyes would be the best mentor to new trainees
Magpiepaw would try to mentor some trainees but her dads catch her.
Cryfeather would teach how to fight in water (she’s the toughest mentor lol)
“Mags, if you’re going to train them, train them right” *dads proceed to train with her*
I also imagine that the DF apprentice would be too scared to hurt her with her dads right there
Fun facts about Cryfeather:
- She’s polydactyl on all four paws
- her mom was an inland cat (so she doesn’t have all the Shoreclan traits)
- she got most of her ‘treasures’ from cleaning the beach
these are good facts, keep it up!
Just got inspiration to jot down name meanings for my clan cats:
Bristleblaze: named bc of his fluffy fur, and because he gets pretty intense (like a fire)
Cryfeather: cries a lot and is very delicate (by Shoreclan standards)
Stumppaw: has a stumpy lil tail
Hawkwhistle: She’s very regal, but also has a touch of asthma so she ‘whistles’ sometimes
Mousespot: small and has spots of white
Frondecho: when he was born, he was curled up like a fern frond, and when he grew up, he followed his mate around like an echo
Heronclaw: seen as imposing and has anger issues (hence the claw prefix)
Ivyspots: named bc she clings to other cats like ivy, and she also has white spots
these are all so amazing, Frondecho's is just adorable!
