I recently dug out an older sketchbook that I started working in in 2018 and then forgot about after 2 pages :D

Monica’s Sister:

My idea for the end of the film was to have Monica run down the stairs towards a ‘shrine’ for Monica’s dead sister and like siblings would, tell their sibling their troubles despite she is talking to a picture of her sister. The idea of the sister being dead, was to express how the mother was more protective of Monica since she lost her first child and to express how Monica actually felt about her sister. The reason I didn’t really want to use the dead sister was because of too much time and it wouldn’t work with how Monica would be feeling at the time, since she had only lost Eddie and would not really be up to talking about it all to her dead sister in the picture. We do still see the picture in the scene, I am not changing that, because I still wanted it to be there and maybe the viewers might wonder who the picture is off. And that was the main reason I would have the statue crying was for when Monica would be talking to her dead sister, cause I wanted the crying statue to represent one of the girls, and I have two statues, one with a blue cover on it and the one crying with nothing on its head. I wanted viewers to think about if their own way and see if the crying statue was Monica, because she is crying right now and not having a cover might represent not being protected by people or respected by others, or it could of been the sister, because she is dead and is now watching over her and is crying with her.
