Genshin Impact 3.3 TCG Card Artwork - Enemy cards (Misc.)
Some more doodles of the Skirmishers! Probably gonna be the last for the time being. I’ll take a hiatus until december, need to finish my thesis and graduate soon! Please pray for my success, everyone ;w;) I’ll be sure to get back and bring more drawings of Fatui Skirmishers once I finished!
The lack of anything with the Cryogunner/Hydrogunner Legionnaires online is killing me so here are two gifs.
Man, Genshin really isn't my cup of tea. *sees a picture of the Cryogunner/Hydrogunner Legionnaires and makes it my Lock & Home screens*
I had a strange dream that involved me actually playing Genshin Impact again because a Cryogunner Legionnaire was playable.
The one and only time I started playing Genshin Impact was to get regularly crushed and dominated by these guys.
"ooohhh but they're so annoyi-" cease
My headcanon of Fatui Skirmishers: Lifespan, ‘expiration’ and the ability to manipulate elements without Vision nor Delusion
Ok before I start, I need to give a little explanation.
The basis of this headcanon is two things. First, it is the popular theory about Fatui Skirmishers that I’m heavily leaning into: that the Skirmishers are byproduct of Il Dottore’s human enhancement experimentation, both the individual and the equipments/weapons they use (which, according to Hydrogunner’s description I’d dub as Fatui Warmachine). It also kinda mentioned that they are neither have Vision or Delusion. This also make Il Dottore (and his underlings) as the figure who is responsible for the recruitment and mass production of tools needed by these Skirmishers. And second is their voicelines and description on archive.
(Also forgive my english if it’s too confusing or there’s some mistakes)
Now, onto the headcanon,
Not everyone who joined the Skirmishers are forced to be part of Il Dottore's experimentation, most of them willingly enlisted themselves (although only some of them who do know that to be a skirmisher one had to undergo the Harbinger’s work before they are ready to be sent onto battlefield).
And among the skirmishers are also those who were used to be part of his experiment but later ‘casted away’.
Despite undergo the change, they are still mostly human. But just like Delusion user, the ability of element manipulation cost their lifespan. But instead of just cutting it, it actually made them has what is referred as ‘expiration time’.
Every classes had different criteria that might correspondence to each own power and lifespan:
One with the longest lifespan are the Legionnaires, they were barely enhanced that caused their skin to be burned, thus the ashen color. Because of this, they had to carry the Cryo and Hydro tanks to help them control the element because they can barely control it without the source. This makes them has as much as 10-15 years long of life expectation after they wear the Fatui Warmachine.
The Bracers are the second, they are moderately enhanced between the three and it helps them control element through their staffs and guns. They can use it more freely and without has to rely on element source unlike the Legionnaires, yet they are weaker in terms of defense, makes them get downed easily. The medium enhancement caused their body to deform worse than the other classes, which caused the appearance of burnt marks for Pyroslingers and crystallized stones for Geochanters all over their body. The more often they use elements, the more these marks would appear. Usually the deformation starts from their face, which make them had to wear mask. However, despite these setback they still have a decent life expectation that span around 7-10 years.
The Vanguards are highly enhanced between the three class. They can produce the element without have to rely on sources or heavily rely on their weapon. The enhancement also gave minor result in physical appearance aside from the heavy and bulky body they have (which usually not far too different from their original state) and great defense. The downside is that their internal structure dying down way faster than the three classes, made them one of the folks that quickly "died out" from heavily usage of element manipulation. Their life expectation mostly range from 5-7 years.
It has to be noted that the Skirmishers’ life is heavily tied to their Warmachine and tools. That means, if their weapon, armor, or any other equipments are malfunctioned, broken, or taken away from them for a long period of time, this will shorten their lifespan even further.
This is why there’s more cases of Skirmishers’ death which was caused by their expiration rather than actual death from battles.
Replacement for broken equipment parts are available but it also cost them quite amount of Mora and also chance of having to face Dottore’s experimentation again, which caused them to rather decline the offer and prefer to die from expiration.
That’s the headcanon I have for now, might gonna add later if I remember?
Also putting my fave taken screenshots of them here just because wwww
