well… he wasn’t wrong. vidarr appeared to be shovelling the slices into his mouth like he was competing in a marathon. ❛ y’know, you’re allowed to chew your food, ❜ impressive as it is that he can eat a slice in as little as two bites, it can’t be healthy. then again, what does bucky know about… god digestion? the thought alone earns a short laugh under his breath.  ❛ should’ve ordered two boxes, huh? ❜

            WORDS TOOK THE AESIR TO PAUSE, though the slice was far from saved as his hunger yearned more of the greasy morsel—albeit taken in with a slow bite. A slower chew. Careful. Deliberate. Almost as if it was just the same weight as the gaze that never left the other. Not that Vidarr was panicked, but what revelation came earned it due CONCERN.

one  hundred  and  seventeen.  it  had  been  one  hundred  and  seventeen  days  since  transigen  had  tried  to  erase  their  mistakes,  joey  barely  managing  to  escape  in  the  chaos.  constantly  moving,  trying  to  evade  those  sent  after  him  to  tie  up  the  companies  loose  ends.  all  in  all,  given  how  little  he’d  known  about  the  outside  world,  he  wasn’t  doing  too  badly.  sure  he  looked  like  a  homeless  stray,  but  he  was  still  alive.  that  was  something.

the  market  was  teeming  with  people,  between  them  his  shorter  stature  allowed  him  to  move  mostly  unseen.  the  pockets  of  his  oversized  jackets  carried  the  few  things  he’d  been  able  to  slip  from  the  stalls  without  notice.  eyeing  his  next  target,  trying  to  decide  between  the  apples  or  the  oranges,  he  moved  closer.  the  guy  operating  the  stall  was  busy  with  a  woman.  hand  reaching  out,  his  fingers  had  just  closed  around  the  fruit  when  the  shout  came.  with  a  start  he  looked  over  to  see  the  owner  reaching  towards  him.  instinct,  or  perhaps  the  training  they  had  drilled  into  him,  kicking  in  as  he  evaded  being  caught.

slipping  between  the  people  he  ran,  the  fruit  still  clutched  tightly  in  hand.  behind  him  someone  was  definitely  chasing  him,  but  joey  was  faster  and  could  manoeuvre  through  the  crowd  more  easily.  ducking  down  he  moved  to  hide  between  two  stalls.  he  could  hear  the  man  he’d  stolen  from  asking  people  who  had  seen  him.  looking  up  he  caught  the  eye  of  a  man  shopping  at  the  stall  he  was  hiding  beside.  desperately  he  shook  his  head,  silently  pleading  with  him  not  to  give  away  his  location.

SHIELD had unknowingly fostered hydra’s growth for years.  but it was no anomaly.  as more information came out,  it became clear that every intelligence agency had unwittingly cultivated hydra’s needs for decades.  they had given it space and time to grow,  while providing a front row seat to every major event of the twentieth century.  the kgb had been no exception ---  something natasha is still coming to grips with twice over.

as was the stasi.  the man responsible,  emil stein,  managed to evade capture after the wall came down.  an evil man,  credited for helping create biological warfare along with dr. zola. and now,  he is leaving a colorful paper trail across eastern europe.  stein is purchasing everything from ornate works of art to military grade artillery.  or at least,  that’s what the documents natasha’s planting say. 

last week,  a bar in malbork underwent a dramatic renovation when a fight broke out.  the reports say a man, missing one arm,  had tossed two white supremacists through the window.  a coded newspaper advertisement had given away the meeting location  ----  since then,  natasha has had to just had to lie in wait while everything falls into place. 

she waits in emil stein’s modest home in potsdam. she waits for the winter soldier to follow the trail she laid out for him.  every groan of the wood in the wind,  every shift of the trees outside sets natasha on high alert as she clings to the dark corners of the room.
