Race To My Heart Crumb
The robots rivals to lovers race car story truly has me in a choke hold (no idea idea if these will be end names or anything, but woof didn't know how much I'd actually love rivals to lovers stuff)
Hand firmly planted like a grounding root, Viper simply stands with him. If this was his moment of realization to the truth - then they would be his witness.
It’s fitting.
There’s no one else SB could ever picture to be present for his lowest moments. For his absolute downfall. For the exact moment when he breaks. It was always meant to be them. He had pictured it again and again as they’d be sneering down at him from the top of the winners podium. But instead the reality of it is him looking down at their hand so gently placed on his chest. Their sharp face softened with pity. It’s so unfair that even like this they’re fucking gorgeous.
His pistons churn wildly beneath their hand. He shuts his eyes and shakes his head. Too many emotions swimming through his code. No idea what to say or do. He never had to. All of his existence he was pointed in a direction and told how to feel about it. Told how he was expected to behave. To think. Where was the guide for how to think for yourself? How to even understand yourself?
Quietly, Viper speaks, “You know, there’s a lot of shit we’ve got on our shoulders.”
Their voice is a beacon he clutches on to. “It’s all an act. You know? In some way. Play the hero, be the villain.” Slowly their hand begins to snake up his chest, “There’s always someone you’re gonna let down.” Claws now slotting perfectly along SB’s right metal cheek. He can’t stop himself from leaning into the comforting touch. Keeping his eyes shut as he bites back a sob. They rub the pad of their silicone thumb against the empty slot where his helmet bolts in, “We’re all disappointments. That’s just how it goes.”
Viper’s voice wobbles as they lean forward, both of their chests flush, “So if you’re going to be a disappointment you might as well say fuck ‘em. Be the full disappointment you’re gonna be because you’ll never be good enough for them anyway.”
Their left hand locks on to hold his left cheek as well. Both of their hands guiding him to look down if he dared to open his eyes. In their voice the familiar bite of competition is there as they say, “And they never deserved you in the first place.” Something about it like a wildfire off in the distance. A passion unlike any other. On instinct SB’s eyes fly open as they end with, “Because you and I are disappointments, together.”
The electric green of their pixelated eyes like an exploding star before they’re crushing their mouth against his. Holding him in place as they hungrily kiss him as if the term disappointment was the sexiest thing on the planet. That even with him broken and lost they would not leave. The two of them were now so intertwined it no longer was them versus each other.
It's them versus the world.
