RIP Hardy Fox of The Residents. It's difficult for me to underestimate the impact that the Residents had on me, both musically and in terms of mystique and image. I first heard them on a radio special around 1977, and it was a revelation : it was the music I had always wanted to hear but hadn't been able to articulate - strange, other-wordly, dissonant. When I released the first Foetus single in 1981 I audaciously sent out a few copies to people I admired, one of whom was the Cryptic Corporation (aka The Residents) and got back a very nice encouraging letter from Hardy Fox. Years later I met him and he was an extremely nice man. Thanks for all the incredible timeless music Mr Fox!
