I'M MAKING ORACLE CARDS!!!!!

For the past couple of months I've been working on a school project and I'm happy to finally show it off! It's been in the works since last Summer, and I swear in my life I will never procrastinate again…

Oracle cards are similar to tarot cards, but offer a more interpretable point of view. All seniors at my high school are required to make a “senior project” where we must use the skills we've learned to build or make a large scale project. I'm really into creatures, cryptids, mythology, so naturally I decided to make my project based on things like that. In total, I made 20 cards, plus I made a box and guide booklet. I'm currently printing and making the project physical, but I haven't gotten the chance to take any nice photos of it. Once the project is fully printed, I'll make a post with the photos.

I'll make a post dedicated to each card with the finished piece, any sketches of the piece, and it's description in the booklet. I'm unsure if I'll retail this deck, but if this project gets good reception and people want it, I'll see what I can do!!!

Mothman

Local legend to West Virginia. Known to be an omen to catastrophes… or perhaps a prophet. This cryptid is well recognized for being a humanoid with moth traits like large wings and glowing eyes among most stories. The Mothman may be an intimidating figure but fret not, for he is only a messenger to danger to come.

Siren

The guardian of the tides. Sirens were the protectors of Atlantis, while Mermaids would seduce sailors and led them to their doom. While it’s often believed that Sirens are much deadlier compared to the Mermaid, Mermaids are the real villains. Sirens are most commonly represented by the torso being a woman and the lower body being either fish or bird-like.

Jackalope

Swift and nimble fauna said to be true, but proven by none. Many say that by spotting the hare with antelope horns, you will have good fortune. There have been countless people claiming to full-heartedly seeing this mythical animal in Western America. Many recreations of what the animal hypothetically looks like result in many uncanny taxidermy hares.

Hand of Glory

The legendary object that holds the power to give thieves high advantages. This item is an old hand with wicks in the tips of the fingers. It is said that one who wields the Hand of Glory can freeze anyone who opposes them when in the act of breaking into a home and stealing. It's a real artifact that can be seen in museums but its affiliated power is only stories.

Big Foot

One with nature, adapt and thrive. The Bigfoot is a legend many have claimed to spot residing in the mountains all around the globe. This beast of a creature is a gentle spirit. Choosing to hide and stay away from the sight of others. They are extremely tall and covered in hair from head to toe.

Aliens/UFOs

From the stars to the Earth. Life forms from the final frontier, here to observe. They arrive piloting their metallic flying saucers while doing their best to remain unnoticed. At their core, they are scientists. They investigate our planets foreign life forms, from cows to humans. These strange anomalies are intelligent and eager to watch from the clouds.

Demon

Tricksters and manipulators. Locals of Hell sent to the Overworld in disguises, hiding their true intentions. Stay alert and watch your surroundings, you can't be fooled if you are prepared. These malicious spirits cause havoc and chaos anywhere they tread. It's said that forbidden rituals can be held to summon such angry creatures, yet divine punishment will result.

Kelpie

Bringing tricks and misguides from the seas and kelp. The Kelpie is a Scottish folklore that brings light to the dangers of uneasy waters. These creatures are half fish and half horse that are said to live in any body of water. They can appear as friendly and entice you to mount them, however this is a fatal mistake. Once on, you're stuck to the beast as they pull to the depths of the waters.
