November is a lawless month.
There are no rules for November as an individual time, despite there being laws for winter as a whole. This, my dear, is because November falls under another's domain.
There are no laws to help you navigate November, I'm afraid. November is a cruel, dark time for many. Most creatures hide away. Away from the iron shaving in the sky. Away from the merciless hand that wields a gilded whip. All hope is not lost, however. All hope is never lost. Listen close, for there may be no rules, but there are guides. There are cautions you can take.
May these warnings find you in good health, for we may all need them in this time of frost.
- Beware the frost elves. I've mentioned them before, so long ago. They come with the cold, and leave with more. They're dangerous, ruthless as the ice they fracture, and twice as deadly. Beware them, take heed, and never say their name.
- Iron will do you little good this month, as most who fear it are asleep. Carry salt.
- Do not ever venture out of doors during a whiteout. You will not return.
- Do not let anyone else venture out of doors during a whiteout. They who returns is not your friend.
- Snow muffles sound. You will not hear them coming. Stay alert.
- Black ice is dangerous, yes, but not just for your common car. It carries properties beyond us. It is a pollutant that will fester in your heart. Avert your eyes from it, lest it get you, too.
- Wear mittens. Extremities go first.
- Never burn a candle within view of your window. She will see it.
- Never speak my name.
- Carry a braid of thorns in your pocket.
- Never speak your full and true name to anyone. They will hear it, and they will take you away.
- Faerie circles will be buried in snow. Watch your step. Do not stray from your path. One mistake, and they will whisk you away, never to be seen again. Do not be taken for a fool. Stay on your path.

- Invest in some good boots. Whether it snows in your home or not, boots are a helpful loophole to many of November's tricks. Place a coin beneath the sole. Use it as a bargaining chip.

Basic Laws of Seasons.
Everything has a justice system, and it often does you good to respect them. Even if you don’t know who implemented the laws.
The Laws of Spring:
New flowers are beautiful. Take heed before you pick them, always be sure that it is beautiful enough to perish. The ugly ones must flourish.
When collecting herbs be sure the wind is not blowing from the east. Someone may be playing a trick on you,
If you hear wind chimes when there are none in proximity, stay inside that day. Stay inside.
If there is melting snow, be aware that things that were hidden will be revealed. It may be beneficial to avert your eyes.
Do not track mud on clean rocks. How rude of you.
The Laws of Summer:
If you complain about the heat, compliment something else. It is very inconsiderate to criticize without compliment. It would be unfortunate if something easily angered were to hear.
If you are out after dark and the atmosphere feels cryptically indescribable carry a bit of salt in your pocket. It never hurts to be prepared.
If you find a stone, feather, coin, or other such in your path pick it up. Never reject a gift.
Corvids will guide you only if you are kind to them.
Do not anger the crows. They are vengeful.
If you drop a coin, do not pick it up. You’ve offered it as a gift. Do not reclaim a gift.
The Laws of Fall:
The leaves are putting on a show for you. Don’t forget to clap.
Do not jump in leaf piles that don’t belong to you. You do not know what may be inside.
A candle is a beacon. Be aware.
If you see a stranger beneath a lamp post smoking a pipe and reading a paper keep walking. They may try to speak to you. They may offer you a favour. Be polite, do not anger them, but be firm. Do not accept what they offer you.
Step on crunchy leaves. Do something kind for yourself.
Have you considered wearing iron? Consider wearing iron.
Anyone with a metal allergy must be regarded with caution during this season. They may not quite be themselves.
Laws of Winter:
Be careful walking under trees. Something may fall. It could be snow. It could be something else.
Be cautious of black ice.
If you are cold, wear a scarf. If you are warm, wear a scarf. It is never a bad idea to wear a scarf.
If you are wearing a scarf, and you should be, keep the tail ends tucked in the front of your clothing. It would be a shame if the ends were to be hooked on something.
Watch your step when the ground is obscured.
Do not step on large rocks that are hidden beneath snow. If they seem to have moved, keep walking. Do not look at the rock. Do not ask questions.
If you hear someone following you, pick up the pace. If you look behind you, be sure it is a human. If you see nothing, run.
February Laws
As February is rapidly approaching, some reminders are due.
- This is a month of cleanliness, and of rebirth. Do not tread on mushrooms should they be growing, for something was born there.
- Tuesdays are days of misfortune this month.
- Never trust anyone who is wearing a dark green scarf during this month.
- Be sure to carry ID this month.
- If you find a four leaf clover, pick it up and press it in a book. Do not carry it on you. Do not get caught with it in your possession.
- The ocean hungers.
- If a stranger offers you a warning, heed their words carefully. Very carefully.
- Sweep your hardwood. It is important to remain hygienic.
- If you’re reading directions after 11:00 PM, double and triple check. Words are finicky and indecisive this month, they may change their mind about what they’re saying.
- Research what to do should you encounter a coyote.
- If you buy a new pair of shoes, remove the laces and relace them a different way for good luck.
- If your front door faces south, consider hanging a sprig of mint above the door.
- Orange is a friendly colour.
- Dark green is a warning colour.
- If a friend invites you out for coffee, but orders tea, then you may need to rethink some things.
- Learn how to rehem your pants.
- Carry salt.
