I am nearsighted.

I found out from wearing a friend's glasses.

And today I realized why the night the power to my town went out and we got to see the stars.

I couldn't see them.

I could see the tiny dots.

But I couldn't see what I could of seen.

I would of sat out there for hours on end, if I had glasses.

But at that time. I didn't.

I wish I could of seen more.

A small sneak peak for the incoming Veilguard fic where Rook gets taken by Elgar’nan right before they manage to escape during the Blood of Arlathan quest. Now with a heavy dose of daddy issues (thanks Viago), Blood magic, and a small dash of Lucanis/Rook angst (it’s small I promise you. I wouldn’t lie) and a small bit of lore building.

Everyone blame and say thank you to @fortunatelyseveregrimwhispers for this one. (And a few other things in the works)

Now:

“Here you are. Back to me at last.”

He is drifting. The dark is- comforting. Warm. It distantly reminds him of sunshine, if it had the slightest blood-red tinge to it-

Wake up!

“You cannot stop what is to come, Fen’harel.”

Is that his name? He doesn’t think so. That name brings irritation, amusement-

Rook! Don’t fall. You fought him once and you can do it again. You need to only listen to-

“Enough.”

The voice fades. The sunlight returns.

“Now, let’s recover your memories shall we?”

Then:

This escape is going spectacularly.

Nothing is going wrong here, and they most definitely never got trapped by a damned gate for twenty minutes that somehow lead to one of the Dalish shouting instructions to Bellara and Taash when they got fed up enough watching Rook, Lucanis, and Davrin nearly die one to many times to a Venatori.

That never happened, and Viago is never hearing a word about it.. The man hardly needs more reasons to be disappointed in him.

Oh? Is that what you crave Da’len? I can give you that. I can support you in the way you need.

You would be a terrible father. You were a terrible one.

“For once I agree with you.” Rook mutters under his breath, ignoring the concerned glances Davrin and Lucanis sends his way. Just his luck that he manages to have not one god on his head, but two.

Two very loud, very annoying and only one that’s sometimes sort of helpful gods.

Just his luck.

“Right, this way I think.” Rook says, following the path. “We’re getting close to the Eluvian. We just need too-”

“Found you.”

He chokes on his next words when the blood magic pulses, sending him careening back into the body behind him. Rook has the briefest hope that it's Lucanis, (who is never that far away from him) only for that hope to promptly be dashed as soon as he feels a hand come up to his neck and slowly cut off his air.

“Run!”

“Rook!”

Lucanis’s panicked shout and a deep, rolling chuckle are the last thing he hears before his vision fades to black.

His ears are ringing.

He failed.

He failed his promise to Viago. Rook is gone, is taken and Lucanis-

Lucanis never got to tell him he loved him.

Gone. Lost.

“I know.” He murmurs.

How many works do you have on AO3?

I’ve only been writing fanfic for a few months and I don’t have any that I’m satisfied with/ brave enough to post yet (hoping to post some soon though). But this is fun so I wanna do it for my WIPs anyways.

Can’t do top kudos’d fics but some of my current WIPs, all for bsd, are:

A currently untitled AU where Dazai is the head and solitary member of a large, wealthy estate who is growing increasingly disenchanted with his life. This starts to change when he meets and hires the fiery Chuuya to be his maid.

Treading a fine line - A Phantom Thief!Dazai and Detective!Chuuya AU inspired by the Mayoi cards. Chuuya has no clue the infuriating and elusive thief he’s been chasing for months is also the charming (but still infuriating) man he’s been dating and is slowly falling for.

A currently untitled HiguGin oneshot with little plot, it’s mostly just them falling in love. It takes place during/after ch.41 of the manga where Higuchi first sees Akutagawa with Gin and mistakes her for his girlfriend. And Higuchi’s first thought upon seeing them together is ‘Oh no, she’s hot.’

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I will when I finally post to Ao3, because I love when authors take the time to reply to my comments.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?

I cannot do angsty endings. Angst in the middle is great, but I am very much a ‘happily ever after’ kinda person.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?

I haven’t finished many fics, but the higugin fic I listed above is two girlies becoming friends and falling in love, so that fits the bill. 

Do you write crossovers?

No, I prefer to take characters from one thing and plop them into the world of another thing as an AU.

Have you ever received hate on a fic?

Nope, I’ve only ever posted my stuff on tumblr and yall are so nice here.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

I’ve been dabbling in writing smut, still figuring out what kind I like to write.

Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Can’t steal what's not there hehe.

Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Nope, but would like to at some point.

What’s your all-time favorite ship?

Picking one is impossible. As bsd is my current obsession, skk and HiguGin. I also love Joker/Akechi from Persona 5 and Dorian/Inquisitor from Dragon Age Inquisition.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?

My Yosano/Koyo omegaverse AU where they are alpha/alpha. I LOVE the premise, but haven’t got much of a plot to go with it.

What are your writing strengths?

Hmmm, maybe that I spend a lot of time trying to keep my characters in character. I worry a lot about whether what I’m writing is something the character would truly do or say. 

What are your writing weaknesses?

I need more descriptive imagery, and to explore the characters' inner thoughts more. As I’ve started writing more, that is something I am actively working to improve. And I need to work on the whole ‘show, don’t tell' thing. 

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?

I think it’s fun. I don’t tend to do it myself, as I haven’t really written stuff where people are speaking other languages.

What’s a fandom/ship you haven’t written for yet but want to?

I recently watched Arcane and fell in love with all of the characters. I really want to write something for Vi/Caitlyn, I love them alot. And also Jayce/Viktor.

What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?

I’m really liking my head of the house Dazai and Maid Chuuya AU. I’ve been suffering from Maid Chuuya brainrot for a while and it’s so fun to put my angry boy in a pretty maid dress. It’s also the first multi chapter fic I’m attempting, so I’m enjoying that process.

As he ran, his own footfalls and laboured breathing could not quite drown out the sounds of another’s footsteps slapping on faux marble ground, the sound reverberating around the cavernous exhibit hall. At the thought of being caught by his pursuer he felt his chest tighten in what another man might call panic or anxiety, but to Dazai, to feel any emotion at all, felt like being alive.

He had been pursued many times during his heists, but before that pint sized detective, he had never come close to actually being caught. He grinned, just this side of manic, resisting the urge to slow down just to see what the detective would do with him if he caught up.

Destinytober- Day 2 Tower

It is a good day.

There’s nothing to be done, no missions that need to be sent out, and that means the Tower is bustling with life. The Guardian watches as a fireteam reunites in the courtyard, catching bits and pieces of the conversation as their voices raise in pitch from time to time.

Further out ahead, a warlock gets annoyed with the other two members of their fireteam and promptly shove them off the edge of the Tower.

Zavala doesn’t even flinch, just pauses his conversation with a newlight Titan and watches them fall with a raised eyebrow, and goes back to his conversation.

The Guardian is pretty sure nothing surprises him anymore when it comes to Tower life.

They almost startle enough to fall off their perch when they hear voice right by their ear.

“Are you brooding up here again?”

They balance themselves again and turn around to glare at Crow, who just snickers before throwing an arm over their shoulder.

“I’m not brooding.” They mutter. “I don’t brood.”

They turn their head to look at him when he remains silent, clearly trying not to laugh.

“I don’t!”

“Uh huh.” He says, and then does the worst impression ever. “”I’m the Young Wolf, I just sit in high places and look scary for no reas- Guardian!”

They watch him fall and only look slightly apologetic when Glint sighs and mutters “Guardian down.”, before rezzing him.

“Seriously?” He complains. “I see you don’t even try it.” Crow bats their hands away and then slowly starts inching away from the mischievous look on their face. “What are you doing?” He asks, and then looks deeply confused when they start to scramble down from their perch as fast as they can.

“Tag.”

They start sprinting as soon as they can, snickering at his swearing.

“I thought we said no death tag in the Tower!” Zavala shouts after them. “Guardian! Crow, don’t tag them back- I see you looking at me I know you can hear me! That doesn’t mean tag a different Hunter! Oh for Lights Sake-“

In which the young wolf has to go to mandated therapy. (the snippet)

The Guardian stares at Zavala in complete disbelief. “You want me to go to what?” They ask again. 

“Therapy.” Zavala sounds as firm as ever. “You’ve been concerning us lately. We just want you to be able to have support.”

“I really don’t need it,” They try, “I’ve been doing fine.Even Ghost thinks so.”  When they turn to Ghost for support after he remains silent, they throw up their hands. “Oh come on!” He nudges their shoulder, despite looking at least somewhat guilty when they stare at him in disbelief.. “You just told me that you wanted to throw yourself from the Tower. For the sixth time today.” Seriously? “It was a joke! I thought it was funny!” The stare that Ghost gives them lets them know that it apparently, had not been as funny as they thought it was. 

“We really are just trying to look out for you.” Zavala promises, wincing slightly when the Guardian turns to stare at him. “Much later than we should have, I’ll be the first to acknowledge.”

They let Ghost see Zavala out when he’s done trying to get them to see the wonderful ways of how they can get their current state of mind analyzed and judge is actually a good thing, after promising that yes he’ll make sure that they go to therapy. 

Therapy. 

“I’m going to see Osiris.”  They announce from their spot on the floor. Ghost stares at them suspiciously. “You’re going because you’re hoping he has work for you to do on Nessus.” “Exactly.” They proclaim, standing up with a flourish. “He appreciates my humor.” They ignore the look of disbelief, and the following examples of everytime Osiris sighed in disappointment when they made a pun. 

By the time they make it to Osiris (who is already staring at them at least somewhat suspiciously,) The Guardian has resolved to never argue with Ghost when he’s worried about them. “I need to shoot things,” They tell him, “I was hoping you had something for me to do?” They wilt under his unimpressed stare, and then perk up when he sighs and picks up a datapad.

“I never gave you these assignments.” He told them, and they nod hurriedly while taking the datapad. “You were never here. I didn’t see you.”

“You didn’t see me,” They promise. “I was a ghost.”
