hey it’s me! i’m going to talk about the blatant whitewashing of crypto’s features in the apex overdrive comic (or whatever it’s called).
as you can see on the left panels i’ve placed art from the comic. you, much like me, are probably thinking “Hmmm..... No!” and you have every right to. many people take an issue with the art style of this comic and although i agree that doesn’t sway my opinion on this particular comic. tbh i really don’t love it nor do i hate it. however i find it exceptionally bothersome when people have the audacity to say that the reason crypto looks like that is because of the art style. first of all <3 how dare you. How fucking dare you! honest to god i thought we were done letting things like this slide considering most of this community, especially on tumblr, are against whitewashing. unfortunately it seems that this has been swept under the rug. the erasure of crypto’s ethnic features is whitewashing and is racist. excusing it makes me think you are racist and ignoring it pisses me off a mile further. ignorance is bliss but it can break another persons heart. as an asian person myself i’ve been outraged by this. i see enough whitewashing in the art for many poc legends but seeing something that respawn allowed to be published be so blatantly whitewashed is outraging. please don’t ignore this. you can see in the art they removed his monolids, nose and face shape. this is not crypto.
