Hey! I wanted to just post an update here, Sorry I've been moving this week and couldn't update, It was definitely not cool of me to just not say anything sooner, but life catches up to you sometimes. We will be back to normal schedule as soon as possible. I am amazed and absolutely adore everyone who’s followed, reblogged, and supported Cryptrip so far! <3
As a thanks I wanted to share some podcasts that I think anyone who is as interested in folklore, cryptids, and conspiracy subcultures as Audrey and myself might like! Podcasts are great man, they have great content and help me get through long hours of work with my sanity as relatively intact as it is!
Lore by Aaron Mahnke, a well researched and wonderfully creepy podcast about specific incidents and happenings in history that border on the supernatural. Aaron’s wonderful experience as a horror writer and the haunting music elements leave this one of my favorite podcasts. Its getting a tv show soon too!
Stuff they Don’t Want You to Know, produced by How Stuff Works, is all about breaking down the facts, fables, and theories behind any number of conspiracy and any related topics! It’s been going so long that there’s a tremendous backlog of episodes to work through when you need it! They have such a ridiculously wide range of topics honestly.
TANIS, Rabbits, and The Black Tapes, three narrative fiction podcasts by Minnow Beats Whale, with a unique edit style and a wonderful mix of folklore feel and slowburn horror. Main topics for each are: mystery spots and ancient gods, World bending AR games, and Demonology and spirits respectively.
Oh No Ross and Carrie, from the Maximum Fun, investigative journalists not only talk about weird fringe groups and cultures, but dive into them! Scientology, UFO conventions, Anti Vaccine protests, and more! I’m of Mixed opinion on some of their investigations but others are really good.
Cryptid Keepers, cryptid themed comedy podcast with a particular slant for folklore and pop culture. Also just really fun cause these ladies talk about the important facts like: Does Mothman have a girlfriend? The world needs to know.
This is by no means a complete list, It’s barely even a small portion of all the podcasts I listen to, not to mention cryptid conspiracy related podcasts you can find. There’s just so so many journalistic, comedy, and narrative ones out there. Rec me some if you think of any! Here’s a few other favs worth mentioning: Alice isn’t Dead, Ars Paradoxica, Limetown, Sawbones: Marital tour of Misguided Medicine, AND MORE!
Fun Editors note, we really debated whether or not the Goatman would know the term “Uncanny Valley“ since it only started emerging in the 1970s. we decided he wouldn’t.
