“If we can distract it, then the rest of us can sneak behind and open the door,” Thomas looks over to Nicholas, “You can break it enough to open it, right?”
“Ay, I can. But someone will have to carry the kid here. I don’t think they’re in any shape to run.”
Mints grumbles, “how do we know that ruby thing it’s going to try attacking anyone as soon as it sees us? You heard that woman they want to detain us.”
“Why not fight it, its organs or whatever they are, are showing,” Ty huffs getting his gun at the ready.
“Call me a Debby downer and all, but I highly doubt bullets will do anything to them, seeing as nobody else is alive here,” Mints hisses.
The group starts to quietly bicker with each other about plans, and who’s do what. You look past the corner to the creature before sighing, “I’ll distract him.”
They turn to you in shock.
“You heard the intercom, they want to bring me to whoever AB is. So it’s more likely I won’t get jumped right away…I think I can get some conversation going with it.”
Nicholas goes to oppose, but Thomas’s hand on his shoulder silences him.
“If you’re sure about it. Good luck.”
You nod and take a deep breath slowly walking out and in front of the creature’s line of sight. He stands up tall, his grip tightens on his weapon. But he lets out a surprise hum when he realizes it’s just you.
“Apologies, I was expecting one of your other cohorts. I am Ruby, have you come to turn yourself in tiny one.”
“N-Not exactly,” you struggle to get any words out, “I wanted to know why she wants me.”
Ruby pauses for a second thinking, “I suppose it wouldn’t do any harm talking with you for a moment. This way you’re more willing to speak calmly with our older sister. To put it simply, you protected and helped one of our kin. Even returning them to us, that’s the first time a human has ever been so reasonable with us. Our older sister wishes to study you personally because of that.”
You nod trying not to look over at everyone sneaking behind him. His gills flick up, Ruby goes to tilt his head to look back, your heart skyrockets.
“Wait! Wait! Before you take me to her, can you help me, please…” you let out a pathetic whimper, “I’m really hurt”
The creature gives you his full attention, “Tut, right, how foolish of me. She doesn’t need you getting any worse before you can be brought to her.”
Each step he takes closer to you the more your body begs you to run from the predator in front of you. His skeletal tail wraps around the metal pole as he moves your jacket off your shoulders, inspecting the deep bruise around your neck.
Ruby mumbles mostly to himself, “No wonder Pada was freaking out when you disappeared.”
He grabs your shirt and tries to lift it up, your hands respond quickly forcing it back down.
“Tiny one, move your hands now. I can not tend to you if you don’t let me see the extent of your injuries,” his voice is stern and sharp.
The door starts opening, Ruby turns growling seeing your group escaping. He tosses the metal pole into his hands as he starts to rush after them. Going on instinct you grab onto his tail to try and stop him. Without looking he swings his tail fast and hard, hitting you right into wall. The wind is kicked out of you, and you struggle to breathe.
“Kid!” Nicholas screams, as Ty and Mints pull him back.
You wave them off to run. Ruby’s eyes flicker back to your crumple up body on the ground. His eyes flash between remorse and disappointment.
“You shouldn’t have stepped in the way tiny one. You’re not strong enough to handle combat with us,” he bangs his first against the metal wall in a pattern, “Light Ame, take them to our older sister. As for you vermin you shall not escape.”
The group runs Ruby hot on their trail. A light amethyst donkey walks out from the shadows, gently picking you up. He was very pretty looking more human, his cracked skin is a little distracting.
“Don’t worry, I’m not gonna hurt you sweetie. He’s such an uptight man, but he’s apart of the 001-09 group they’re all so serious,” He walks towards the showers, “Here let’s clean you up before we see big sister, sweet thing.”
