Retract your claws, big chunk of marvel fandom. Watching people tie themselves into knots because their non-canon ship continues to be non-canon is eye-rollingly ridiculous, but when it goes past that to calling people homophobic, who’ve clearly demonstrated that they absolutely aren’t by all words and deeds in the past, that crosses a line.
Yes, Bucky and Steve love each other. Yes, that makes it a love story.
No, not all love is sexual. No, telling a story of brotherly love isn’t denial, because that’s canon. It’s ALWAYS been canon. Brotherly love exists, and after all the stories that have been told for decades that make men out to be emotionally shallow, and only capable of sexual bonds, it’s refreshing as hell.
No, they aren’t throwing your ship under the bus, because it wasn’t on the bus to begin with. No, they aren’t protesting too much, because everything that’s been said is canon, and will continue to be.
It doesn’t matter how many times you reblog yourselves and work yourselves into a frenzy, or how much you insult actors, directors, and anyone who doesn’t share your view of the characters for not sharing your fanon. These diatribes are still fanwank, and that never looks good on anyone.
