I tried to be as clear as possible with the steps. I don’t know if this is the easiest way of doing it but it’s the way I do it. Enjoy! And I hope it’s useful! ♥ I’m using Photoshop Cs5.
Under the cut because it’s long.
First, you have to open photo or screencap you want to work with. In this case, i chose these screencaps:
(The original size of each screencap is 1280x720px but tumblr didn’t let me upload them on this text post so I changed the size to 720px)
Now, once you have the screencap open on photoshop, you’ll select the cropping tool and select the area you want to use for your edit:
Once the image is cropped, now you’ll want to adjust the width to 540px (or 268px):
Now the best part begins, you can add the adjustments you want, use gradients, change the colors or just adjust the brightness and contrast to your liking. In this case I sharpened the image and added levels and a color gradient. Once you’re happy with that, you can add the text.
To get the text in the centre of the image, you have to click the text layer and press Ctrl+A on your keyboard. When you do that, the image will appear with a dotted border. To get the text centered you have to click on the icon I circled.
You can costume the image as much as you like, here i added some textures and more text. When you’re ready, select all the layers (bottom right) and then click on the crop tool and crop the image again by its borders.
Now, click on the tab with the other screencap and drag it so that the tab is now “floating” like this:
To get the same size on this screencap, check the height of the image from the first one:
and then apply it on the new screencap:
When the size is right, click on the edited screencap, select all the layers, and drag them to the tab with the second screencap:
you’ll get something like this. Now you have to crop the second image using the “template” of the first one:
You’ll get something like this. Finally, all you have to do is delete the layer that stil has the first screencap:
Now you can edit the text, change the colours, add more textures or different ones and overall just edit as you please. Here’s how mine turned out: I added another texture and changed the text and the colour of the gradient
Always bear in midn that the key aspect is the width of each image, since that’s what will affect the look of the photoset the most:
if you want to make photosets like this one, you have to set the width of you image to 540px, The height will depend on on you want it to be and also on the screencap or picture you want to edit. Here are some examples of 540px sets with different heights: x, x, x.
if you want photosets like this one, then you have to set the width to 268px. Again, the height is up to you/the original image. Keep in mind that the bigger the original image, the better. If the size is lower than 540px to begin with, then I’d suggest making 268px edits.
