The pause between the two of them was brief, but satisfying.
“You knew this whole time?!” Clover nearly squealed, her mug tight in her hands
Nell was grateful they’d mastered staying calm during funny moments, or else their laugh might have ruined it. So instead, they took a sip from their own silly novelty mug, and responded with a simple
“Yup”
“.....And you didn’t think to tell me??” Clover’s mug was finally placed on the coffee table with a bit more force than necessary, earning a brow raise from the nurse
“Let me return your question with a question” Nell replied coolly “Would you have believed me before now?”
The slightly frazzled barista paused, taking a moment to think about it.
“... Probably not”
“Exactly. I spent like, a year trying to figure out how to tell you, but just kinda… gave up. You’re pretty hard-headed, hun”
Clover just groaned, leaning back against the couch.
So much for venting to a friend.
“I just, I don’t know what to think” The barista admitted.
“Well… what are you thinking now?” Nell asked, taking another moment to sip her coffee.
There was more silence.
“Well… I guess I want to know exactly what I can do?” Clover finally answered, looking at a hand.
Nell tilted their head in amusement, putting their mug down gently and standing up. “There’s only one way to find out”
