denji thinkin he was in his shoujo manga era
Once again divided by point of view:
This panel taking place right after Asa saying she also has rules she has to live by or die, so Denji should stay way from her or he’ll end up dead, too, is just such a big slobbering chef’s kiss.
The TV cleanly splits the panel between Asa and Denji. There’s this “block” between them again. They’re also sitting in different positions so, opposed to the panel in the aquarium where they sat across from each other in the same enclosure, there’s again an incongruity that’s being noted through body language/the physical space.
The TV screen is also left blank, with furthers the notion that they aren’t seeing the same picture/taking in the same info. Especially considering that following this we’re seeing what Denji sees—the dog on the screen, his worry about this all being about how he might smell bad like what the movie narration is saying, which is clearly not what Asa or Yoru are thinking.
Anyway. Here’s to another chapter of “I’m going mad fishing for meaning in how Fujimoto blocks these panels.”
So I guess ultimately my question is why are we assuming that Nayuta specifically meant “Denji belongs to me definitively, and you are trying to take his attention away from me?”
Aside from the fact that narrative misdirection is a thing and that I think it would completely contradict all the themes of the story thus far to just have her be Makima 2.0 and inherently evil...
We don’t actually know if she and Yoru recognize each other or not? Even on a subconscious level. If she does recognize Yoru (and, reasonably, knows how her powers work) calling Yoru a thief could have meant that “You are trying to steal Denji’s spinal cord to make a weapon” or even “You have stolen this random girl’s body to use for yourself.” (Even if she doesn’t know specifically that Yoru is sharing Asa’s body, she might still be able to tell that something weird is going on?)
She’s still a child, she might have just impulsively said the smallest amount of words that would sort-of convey what she was feeling.
I’m not worried yet.
Yet.
So, that new CSM chapter ahahaha
Yoru jumpscared me, like DAMN. This is the first time I've been properly jumpscared by a comic so well, there's that.
Look at this bitch. What is she thinking. She's unhinged, she's terrifying and there are no thoughts behind those eyes.
And don't get me started on Nayuta man, why does she have Makimas haircut 😃😃😃
I hope this is a red herring just like "Denji Spinal Cord Sword", FUCK.
The fart chart goes crazy
