Watching Star Wars in chronological order is so funny.

I have a theory that MC and Caleb's story is going to end badly.

What evidence do I have?

MC knows the others LI from another life, where they had a fleeting and short-lived romance that ended disastrously. However, Caleb is the only one she knows from this present life, it's the first time they've met and the first time they've had a romance, so the evidence leads me to believe that it's not going to end well (MC is a danger to anyone lol).

Anyway, it's just a silly theory of mine, so don't pay too much attention to me. I just wanted to mention it. You can go on with your day.

Not only is it unrealistic, but it just goes to show that, whoever thought of that change and whoever likes it, has never had to be separated from their family! I was not a child relocated by social service, but my childhood can be summed up by my parents' eternal fight over my custody. My dad, a guy I had only seen in a picture and whose face I hadn't even learned, woke up one day wanting to be a dad and sued my mom, even paying judges to win the case. Do you have any idea how terrifying it is for a child the mere possibility of being taken away from your caregiver, from your safe place, to be sent to a stranger? Are you seriously going to tell me that it's good that Lilo was practically abandoned so that Nani could "live her life"? As if Lilo was just a nuisance to her sister. And of course, let's also forget how flawed the system is, caring little about where and with whom the relocated kids actually end up with

ahh elizabeth vandiver's lectures pointing out a heartbreaking moment in the odyssey i wasn't even aware of:

telemachus addresses eumaeus the swineherd as atta (ἄττα). in my fagles edition it's translated as "old friend", but as vandiver points out, atta has two meanings: it can be used as a familiar-but-respectful form of address to an older man (which is how telemachus uses it), but significantly it's also baby-talk for "father", parallel to papa/dada. it's what telemachus WOULD have called odysseus growing up, but now telemachus refers to him as xenos -- a visiting stranger/foreigner.

like imagine. odysseus is in disguise as a beggar, it's the first time he's seen his son since infancy, and one of the first things he hears telemachus say, to another man, is "daddy, who is this stranger?"
