Minister Cameron speaks like he’s talking directly to Leland

You know, tomorrow isn’t promised.  One day the sky is sunny and blue. The clouds are white and it’s like that AAAAaaall your life!

I say...ALL your life!

Congregations says:  All your life! Yes!

.....Then all of a sudden....  

I say....all of a sudden...it starts changing.

Congregation says:  Changing! Yes!

We don’t know why. We just know we need to be grateful for what we have.  

Congregation says:  Yes!  Say that, Minister Masters!

His face goes solemn as he continues:  

I had a health scare over a week ago. 

I went to the doctor.  I just knew it was serious.  I couldn’t eat. I couldn’t sleep.  I was losing weight...And I was up the whole night before.  Stressing.  I was blaming myself, I was blaming the shift in the weather. But do you know what that doctor told me....??

He said... Mr. Masters you are the healthiest man I’ve ever seen! 

Whooo!  Somebody needs to have faith today!  Don’t stress!  We all have our troubles.

Let’s bow our heads........

Shortly after both schools completed their first couple days, Chairman Sabien Cunningham, scheduled a meeting with the School District Association (SDA), to see how things have gone, so far.  He hopes to iron out as many wrinkles as possible, but stresses to the eager staff that nothing is perfect. They will have to stay positive and work within their boundaries and try to keep the kids inspired and focused.  

This group is made up of experienced community members from Blythe Harbor and Oasis Springs.  They will lend their expertise to the new educational system. 

Vivienne Everett, will mentor in Drawing/Writing. She is joined by Ryan & Carmen Wynn, who will mentor in Chess and Music, at Rosebud Primary. 

Cameron & Stacy Masters, will mentor in Chess and Fitness/Wellness, at Oasis Springs High.  Emerita Valdes will join them there, as a mentor in Painting/Guitar.  Her certifications have not arrived yet, therefore she could not attend this first meeting.  (aka the group needs another open spot.)

Cameron: I told you he hired a guy.. Shoot, if we could afford one, we’d have one too.

While the voidcritter game is underway, Ryan’s friend, Cameron Masters, stops by for a good ol’ chess game.

Carmen entertains SayJ, and Olivia, on Don’t Wake the Llama..while chatting with Sierra..who was so excited about winning a spelling bee in her class, she jumped up from the game table.

Sierra:  And guess what! I spelled a reaally hard word and I had to put it in a sentence, too!

Carmen:  What word was that?

Sierra spells slowly:  F-r-i-g-h-t-e-n...frighten.  Did the big dog frighten you?  ..I won.

Carmen: Oh wow, Sierra..that’s so good!

Meanwhile on the chess board...

Ryan to Cameron:  You sure you wanna do what you thinkin’ bout doing? You know I’m inside your head right now.

Cameron laughs...

Cameron: Shut up, man..you always do this. I’m trying to focus.

Sierra marched past the lockers, dreading today’s lesson in class.  She never practiced her music over the weekend. 

She can do math and reading all day...figure out the toughest equations for a first grader, understand the major historical events of the world and put them in a timeline...but...put a sheet of music in front of her, and the notes jump off the page and fly away.  She just can’t get it.

And, today is music appreciation day at school..all the students will be tested on a solo they were given to learn by reading the sheet music.

Sierra just hopes she isn’t the first one called.

As soon as that thought clears her head, Mr. Acharaya calls her to the front.

Sierra whispers to the student sitting next to her:  Did he just say my name?

She screeches out the first bar, and then remembers how to turn the bow and relax her thumb and keep her elbow up...the rest of it sounded okay, a few missed notes, but it’s totally based on memory and how the music sounded in her ear when Mr. Acharaya played it again before they started. She didn’t play the entire solo, only half of it....she put the violin down and takes a dramatic curtsy as if she just played one of the greatest symphonies.

She waited for the kids to laugh, but they didn’t...each one of them was as petrified to go next, as she was.

Mr. Acharaya asked her to continue her practicing at home.  He says she did a good job, and she’s on the right track.  She made a B today.  Sierra can’t believe it.

Asya gets a call at work from Sergio, and he says he’s bought a sofa bed for the livingroom..so they won’t have to crowd each other’s space anymore, ‘pretending that we’re something we’re not’.  Asya rolls her eyes and says ‘okay’.  He suggests that she goes and checks out Harbor Health Club after work.  He gave up his spot so she could have it because he knows how much it means to her to keep up a strength training regiment.  

She thanked him, but it was quick.  The sound of the click she hung up with, still echoed in Sergio’s ear.  

Heading home after work, without looking for Sergio..Sierra still in school, she quickly threw on her sweats, shoved some shorts and a tank top inside a duffle bag, and caught a cab straight to Harbor Health. She’s got more than enough steam to blow off. And just like Sergio said, the fellas were there when she arrived.

Some of these guys she met at the 4th of July party.

She asks Usher how his music is coming along..and he tells her he’s got a slamming new record.  He also tells her she’s gonna pass out from wearing that hot sweatsuit, so she goes to change real quick.

She meets Vin Diesel and chats lightly, feeling a bit awkward as the only girl there.  ...She hasn’t joined yet, but she hopes they will warm up to her.

She sits down to focus on her own workout, and Lamont Owens quietly sits down beside her, for several awkward minutes, watching her lift weights.

Lamont:  Girl, you are so cut..!  Keep it going, you can do it.

Extremely focused on her lifting, she forced herself not to look up from her lap. 

Asya:  Thanks for the support.   

She knows she looks good, and she’s got fitness goals she wants to meet. There’s no time for distractions tonight. She’s gotta prove herself worthy of joining this group.

She did take the time to briefly say hello to Stacy Masters, and it’s too bad that there’s only 1 spot open.  She hopes to see Stacy again, and maybe get her and some other women into the group.
