It's an A4 size file to see how the text would look like, since it's pretty small (calculated in cms) and needs to be compatible with the images size.

Project collections: Liah's Barbie collection

Continuing the collections project with the old saying "Family comes first", the way this collection was photographed is fairly similar to the previous one of my dad.  A few things: 1) I don't know why they both arranged their collection in a similar way, I really wanted to say something about it, that there's a better way of displaying it (both cases but more so in this Barbie case), but I didn't. I really think I should not involve myself in the way the collections are being presented except from my own (that will also come later).  It was also similar due to the fact that both collections were stored and not displayed. As I photographed more collections I later realised that people who display their collection take more consideration to it rather than collections that are stored and boxed (not to disrespect, I have stored collections too. No space!) 2) At this stage I had the same sort of vague idea of how to photograph the collections. I wanted to take each favourite item and take a nice photograph of it on a white background, taken out of context. That didn't really last, but now I'm just spoilering.

Project collections: Rony's vintage toy cars

Had these for a while now, just didn't find the time to upload it to Tumblr. Rony is actually my talented dad and the first victim for my project.

Going back to December 2013, I didn't really know exactly how I wanted this project to be, so I was testing things out. I did know a few things that I kept throughout the project:

Not involving myself with how the people organise their collection, merely documenting

Conducting a short interview with same set questions with regards to the collection, like when did they start the collection, why collecting these items, what is their favourite item, etc.

Photographing the collector with the collection as well as the collection by itself. Also taking photos of items either I found interesting visually or items that the collector has pointed out and have a bigger story, as well as their favourite item.

Throughout this project I have met some new interesting people (well, except from my dad and sister which are old interesting people ;), in the next post) with amazing stories, cool houses and a different point of view on things, specifically collecting.

I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Side project

Rob from Patent Pending drew a drunken unicorn for me a few months ago. I decided to digitise it and add tattoos that reference Patent Pending. Then I've screen printed it onto tshirts and made a few poster prints.

Hasselblad / Newquay / Masterpiece project

Let's catch up:

I've started the masterpiece project [a project that 3rd years have the opportunity of doing for the degree show and portfolio boost] with a Hasselblad film camera when I visited Israel, and shot photos of my hometown, Givatayim.

As the camera failed me in the middle of my vacation and I couldn't fix it, I ended up with not as many photographs as I intended to.

So since it's Easter (or for us Jews- Passover) break, I took the Hasselblad again, this time to Newquay, Cornwall.

It'll take quite some time to show what I've got while shooting in Newquay, so this is a written update only. May post some DSLR photos of the areas I've been later on.

The Hasselblad camera is a medium format film camera, so every film roll has 12 frames only, yet they can be developed quite huge since they're in a very high quality. So after loading film, adjusting the camera features to my liking for every frame, unloading film, and repeat, I then need to develop the films, scan each and every frame I took directly from the negatives (this takes longer than you think), checking each image on my Mac, I then decide what's worth being edited- if needed (and probably will be needed as the camera has quite a lot of small particles on the lens) and then printed.

So bare with me.

New Gboy paper, well it's still 10ish years old but it was in closed plastic.

Prints look better than the first test. looks ever better scanned. Waiting on digital files (Gboy -> Macbook)
