Zombie / Af magazine
Af magazine's upcoming edition is all about zombies. This is what I was inspired to do for it.

Welcome to Givatayim
A small town that has no less than 90 hairdressers.
A town size of 3,211 dunams (3.211 km2 or 1.240 sq mi).
A town with a population of 55,703 people (last checked December 2012).
That equals roughly 618 people per hairdresser.
Click here to see all of them.
Every street has a different color. The street with most hairdressers has 28 of them.
I SAID GOOD DAY.
Hacking the Dead
So you've seen the video (previous entry), this is how it looks after printing.
Take into consideration:
It's a mock-up. The strip isn't long enough, I used whatever was left in the printer I bought to see how it will look like, so there are only 15 and a bit photos on it.
I did not edit the images at all. What you see is what you get. Raw footage of whatever was going on that person's mind, probably 10+ year old photographs (exciting!)
The paper is old, so the quality isn't the best. I need to test newer paper to see the difference in quality.
This is a proper gameboy printer paper, they come in slight color hues, this one being blue, others are yellow and red.
This printing process is very similar to till receipt paper, it's thermal and reacting to heat. Therefore with time, the images will fade.
A bit of information about the printer from the official Nintendo website:
The Game Boy Printer is a thermo-printer that prints photographs taken with the Game Boy Camera, or from games compatible with the Game Boy Printer. A small chip in the printer is controlled by pulses that come from the camera/the game, thus creating various temperatures. These temperatures, in turn, shade the points heated on the special paper into various shades of grey, creating the image.
Hacking the dead
Changing direction: since I didn't have any of these items before, I had to purchase some on Ebay. What I discovered is that every single Gameboy Camera I bought had pictures on it from the previous owner (each with a capacity of 29 photos). I am taking the photos in the cameras and printing them out as long strips. Will add the information I have on each camera directly from Ebay.
This is how it looks in action, pretty exciting!
Project collections: Pez further work in progress
This one took more than I expected. More time, more effort, more failures, more running around, more money, more film.
These are test shots but I have to say after setting up alone took 2 hours I am pretty pleased and glad it looks the way it is so far.
I have shot the photos with a Hasselblad (medium format film camera, check previous posts) and a macro lens in a studio. The test shots before the test shots (confused? so am I) were photographed with a Polaroid back, which is pretty cool.
So these are the Polaroids
After that I used 160 ISO Kodak film with the original Hasselblad camera and then I processed the film at BDI (recommended) and got a contact sheet to see if anything needs fixing.
They all look quite nice (disregarding my poor alignment) and vintage looking. It may also be due to the fact that the film itself was pretty old, in any case, I think job well done here.
So far I've only scanned one negative to see how it properly looks on big screen, and the result is in front of you.
I'm really happy with it- it's not bad at all. Specially if I'm considering the amount of time and effort it took to get this to work properly.
Another thing I encountered was that there was flaring coming from the inside of the dispensers, it's quite transparent if you put an extra flash at the bottom (as I shot these on perspex). I don't mind it- I actually like it. But after this I have tried 2 extra rolls of the same thing only with white paper on top of the table to block flaring. Results might take some time to get posted as I have over 10 rolls to process and scan.
Project collections: Liah's Barbie collection
Continuing the collections project with the old saying "Family comes first", the way this collection was photographed is fairly similar to the previous one of my dad. A few things: 1) I don't know why they both arranged their collection in a similar way, I really wanted to say something about it, that there's a better way of displaying it (both cases but more so in this Barbie case), but I didn't. I really think I should not involve myself in the way the collections are being presented except from my own (that will also come later). It was also similar due to the fact that both collections were stored and not displayed. As I photographed more collections I later realised that people who display their collection take more consideration to it rather than collections that are stored and boxed (not to disrespect, I have stored collections too. No space!) 2) At this stage I had the same sort of vague idea of how to photograph the collections. I wanted to take each favourite item and take a nice photograph of it on a white background, taken out of context. That didn't really last, but now I'm just spoilering.
Once again, let the photos speak!
More photos of Liah's Barbie collection, information, and other collections can be seen on my website.
Project collections: Rony's vintage toy cars
Had these for a while now, just didn't find the time to upload it to Tumblr. Rony is actually my talented dad and the first victim for my project.
Going back to December 2013, I didn't really know exactly how I wanted this project to be, so I was testing things out. I did know a few things that I kept throughout the project:
Not involving myself with how the people organise their collection, merely documenting
Conducting a short interview with same set questions with regards to the collection, like when did they start the collection, why collecting these items, what is their favourite item, etc.
Photographing the collector with the collection as well as the collection by itself. Also taking photos of items either I found interesting visually or items that the collector has pointed out and have a bigger story, as well as their favourite item.
Throughout this project I have met some new interesting people (well, except from my dad and sister which are old interesting people ;), in the next post) with amazing stories, cool houses and a different point of view on things, specifically collecting.
I'll let the photos speak for themselves.
More photos of Rony's vintage toy cars collection, information, and other collections can be seen on my website.
Side project
Rob from Patent Pending drew a drunken unicorn for me a few months ago. I decided to digitise it and add tattoos that reference Patent Pending. Then I've screen printed it onto tshirts and made a few poster prints.
Limited amount will be on sale soon.
Accomplishment
Today Memphis May Fire signed photographs I took of them back in Vans Warped Tour. Got a heartwarming response to it, and gave them a copy too. They deserve it. You can see my gig photography on my website and Flickr.

ADHD is about having broken filters on your perception. Normal people have a sort of mental secretary that takes the 99% of irrelevant crap that crosses their mind, and simply deletes it before they become consciously aware of it. As such, their mental workspace is like a huge clean whiteboard, ready to hold and organize useful information. ADHD people... have no such luxury. Every single thing that comes in the front door gets written directly on the whiteboard in bold, underlined red letters, no matter what it is, and no matter what has to be erased in order for it to fit. As such, if we're in the middle of some particularly important mental task, and our eye should happen to light upon... a doorknob, for instance, it's like someone burst into the room, clad in pink feathers and heralded by trumpets, screaming HEY LOOK EVERYONE, IT'S A DOORKNOB! LOOK AT IT! LOOK! IT OPENS THE DOOR IF YOU TURN IT! ISN'T THAT NEAT? I WONDER HOW THAT ACTUALLY WORKS DO YOU SUPPOSE THERE'S A CAM OR WHAT? MAYBE ITS SOME KIND OF SPRING WINCH AFFAIR ALTHOUGH THAT SEEMS KIND OF UNWORKABLE. It's like living in a soft rain of post-it notes. This happens every single waking moment, and we have to manually examine each thought, check for relevance, and try desperately to remember what the thing was we were thinking before it came along, if not. Most often we forget, and if we aren't caught up in the intricacies of doorknob engineering, we cast wildly about for context, trying to guess what the hell we were up to from the clues available. On the other hand, we're extremely good at working out the context of random remarks, as we're effectively doing that all the time anyway. We rely heavily on routine, and 90% of the time get by on autopilot. You can't get distracted from a sufficiently ingrained habit, no matter what useless crap is going on inside your head... unless someone goes and actually disrupts your routine. I've actually been distracted out of taking my lunch to work, on several occasions, by my wife reminding me to take my lunch to work. What the? Who? Oh, yeah, will do. Where was I? um... briefcase! Got it. Now keys.. okay, see you honey! Also, there's a diminishing-returns thing going on when trying to concentrate on what you might call a non-interactive task. Entering a big block of numbers into a spreadsheet, for instance. Keeping focused on the task takes exponentially more effort each minute, for less and less result. If you've ever held a brick out at arm's length for an extended period, you'll know the feeling. That's why the internet, for instance, is like crack to us - it's a non-stop influx of constantly-new things, so we can flick from one to the next after only seconds. Its better/worse than pistachios. The exception to this is a thing we get called hyper focus. Occasionally, when something just clicks with us, we can get ridiculously deeply drawn into it, and NOTHING can distract us. We've locked our metaphorical office door, and we're not coming out for anything short of a tornado. Medication takes the edge off. It reduces the input, it tones down the fluster, it makes it easier to ignore trivial stuff, and it increases the maximum focus-time. Imagine steadicam for your skull. It also happens to make my vision go a little weird and loomy occasionally, and can reduce appetite a bit. Hope this helps and please do share this so that more people can learn what its really like to have ADHD.
I decided to share this short text. I stumbled upon it, and it represents how I am as a person 100%. I think it's important for people to know how people with ADHD feel throughout the day. It's really difficult to try and explain it to someone, this article is doing a good job explaining it.
Hasselblad / Newquay / Masterpiece project
Let's catch up:
I've started the masterpiece project [a project that 3rd years have the opportunity of doing for the degree show and portfolio boost] with a Hasselblad film camera when I visited Israel, and shot photos of my hometown, Givatayim.
As the camera failed me in the middle of my vacation and I couldn't fix it, I ended up with not as many photographs as I intended to.
So since it's Easter (or for us Jews- Passover) break, I took the Hasselblad again, this time to Newquay, Cornwall.
It'll take quite some time to show what I've got while shooting in Newquay, so this is a written update only. May post some DSLR photos of the areas I've been later on.
The Hasselblad camera is a medium format film camera, so every film roll has 12 frames only, yet they can be developed quite huge since they're in a very high quality. So after loading film, adjusting the camera features to my liking for every frame, unloading film, and repeat, I then need to develop the films, scan each and every frame I took directly from the negatives (this takes longer than you think), checking each image on my Mac, I then decide what's worth being edited- if needed (and probably will be needed as the camera has quite a lot of small particles on the lens) and then printed.
So bare with me.
