OKAY so I am starting to believe a lot of people don't realize just HOW customizable clip studio is 😌 Besides the obvious - rearranging all tools windows and sections to your liking, adjusting color from light gray to black, these 3 areas are 100% customizable!! (also, reminder, I am not affiliated with celsys or anything, i just really really like this software and i will not shut up about it anytime soon lol)

1. Command bar - it's on the very top of your screen, and you can toggle it's visibility too (with the 3 lines on the very left of it)! To choose what buttons you want to have there, go to [file] > [command bar settings]!

2. Selection launcher - this belt of buttons pops up when you make a selection, right below it. Super useful!!! I put a lot of color adjustments settings on it, but also sharpening, blurring, and the transformation tools! To edit, just press this button on it (selection launcher settings).

3. Quick access menu - especially useful if you use smartphone assistant! To edit buttons on it, just press the three lines in left top corner of the menu and go to [quick access settings]!

I'll just add one more thing I learned over the years - if you think to yourself "mann I wish this was an option here..." it most likely is 🥹 (and if it's not, you can always send suggestions to csp's tech team through the starting app!!

📝 Tiny tutorial: How I work with Clip Studio's 3d models to make them ALWAYS fit my art style! 🩷

I do the same with patterns and decorations of this sort 🥰 I recommend rasterizing your 3d file layer once it's set up the way you like it! Easier to play around with the opacity!

Now that I think about it, the only thing I don't do it for is handwriting brushes… 🤔

📝There is nothing wrong with using 3D files as references or guides.

Personally, direct tracing doesn't sit right with me, so to make sure it's just a shape guide when I need to get the perspective right, I do the blur trick! I keep opacity around 15% to just suggest the shape.

DID YOU KNOW that you can use the shapes-making tools with ANY BRUSH? ❤️ Even if it's textured or a pattern!

Sorry, it's a big and messy instruction - for the ease of keeping it a single image so you can save it for future reference if needed! I'll explain everything in steps now! ❤️

1. After selecting the tool of your choice (I went with a circle because I need it for little perfectly round glass balls) press the small 🔧 wrench icon in the [tool property] window.

2. Go to [Brush tip]

3. Press [Material].

4. With the little 🗒️ + icon you can open a window with all the materials you have saved in your Clip Studio.

5. Here, the search option can be very helpful, or you can browse with tags on the left side! Just double click the one you want to use.

6. Go back to [Brush shape] tab.

7. Press [Add to presets] button.

8.* Optional: with the small 🔧 wrench icon you can rename your new brush shape. (I also recommend playing with all the other settings on the left: Spraying effect, stroke, texture...)

9. If you make this option visible, you can easily toggle it now whenever you need it!

This is how I use Clip Studio's mosaic filter to get a custom colors palette (because infinite colors are overwhelming to me) 💕

Edit: An extra tip!

if the reference picture you're working with comes shaded/painted and it's difficult to decide which bit is the actual base color, try blending it or putting it through the mosaic filter! It'll limit your choices and make it easier! 😎

so apparently if you tap the layer of your choice while holding left ctrl, it will automatically select everything that is on the layer????? 🫢

I'm using version 3.0.4, but if someone uses earlier version, please let me know if it works for you too!

📝 Did you know that Clip Studio works with the same filetype of brushes as photoshop (.ABR)?

Just download your brush and drag it into CSP's brushes window!

(note: a lot of photoshop brushes online are stamp-style, don't be surprised if this is what it turns out to be!)
