The news:

CTHouseShows is one year old! My phone even autocorrects for proper capitalization now! It's a good deal!

First, business: 

I’ve mentioned or hinted that CTHS would be stepping out of the booking biz, and that’s mainly what this post is about. Here’s how it’s going down.

Cthouseshows the blog will remain a blog and will continue to do what it's always done, namely, inform you wonderful people about Connecticut DIY shows. Thomas and I are here to stay for the foreseeable future.

Standing Wave Promotions is now a thing! All the booking will go under this name. It'll get its own tumblr and Facebook pages and I won't spam the CTHS pages with my own shows as much. Please go give it a like/follow! Some things are still under construction but there are shows planned already.

Second, not business:

This may get rambly, deal with it. A year ago, I had a lot of money, most nights free, and a cursory knowledge of the local scene. Now I have no money, concert plans most nights, and a concerning investment in CT music.

RIP The Bubble Bowl, Nic's Cage, Panty Haus, and UANC, goodbye Broken World. I could say more, I won’t.

It's been good though. I got to see the promising Haus O Phibs, very excited for that. I'm also stoked on the scene coming out of Woodbury, Oakville, and Oxford, fueled by Seagreen, Couch Yeti Records, and CapitalH Records. If you don't know those names already do yourself a favor and get into it.

College Street Music Hall opened. That was cool. I was working for Manic at the time, which was even cooler, but I feel like CSMH has opened a whole slew of doors, not just for Manic but for Arc and Seagreen and Couch Yeti and CapitalH and even myself, there's demand for shows and promoters and bands and space for them all to grow.

CT keeps putting out fantastic music, too, and it's been a pleasure being in the middle of it. Just to name a few - Space Camp, All Riot, Loner Chic, Milkshakes (finally), Queen Moo, Suck Puppet, Posture and the Grizzly, and Cop all have records out or coming out that are definite hits, and that's just scratching the surface.

Third, thanks y'all: I can't thank everybody individually, I don't think I have the space. That said, there are specific individuals that deserve mention. First, Chris, Ed, and the rest of the Arc people have been nothing short of inspirational, it's promotion and small business done right. I couldn't have done half the things I've done without them.

Second, Mark and Manic Productions. Thanks to Mark I got to skip a decade of work and help out on an entirely new level. 

Third, Thomas Shreve has been incredibly helpful, he stepped up and ran the blog for an entire month while I was gone. CTHS is running super smoothly with or without me and it’s thanks to him.

Third, all the bands that have played for free or for little, who rocked any room full or empty.

Fourth, the audiences that came out and stayed out.

And the rest: Pat and the UANC crew, Dear Pines, Jason Moriarty and Milkshakes, Sean Ricci and Crunch House, Joe and Jill, Dan and All Riot, Jon and Space Camp, Al McCarthy, Carson's Crown and Elison Jackson, Sarah Stroh, Drew Niedzielski, Kurt Reinhardt, Gavin Stacey, and Andy Esborn, anyone I forgot. And, since you’ve read this far, to all you lovely followers, especially those more active among you. This year has been rad, looking forward to what's coming up!
