my favorite thing abt ctrl z is that every single man (w the sole exception of Luis) is a terrible, awful person. Just the fucking worst. Javier is maybe MAYBE on the path to redemption, and every other man is utter trash.

My crazy ass: Ships Raul and Sofia

Me to myself during the first 5 and a half episodes: There I go again, shipping the protagonist with "the kind guy"

Me to myself after the ending of episode 6 and onwards: WTF is wrong with me? Why do I still low-key ship them?

I didn’t see it as Raul stalking Sofia. I saw it as him wanting to make sure she was okay. While not exactly shown, one could connect the dots of him calling her a freak and then feeling some responsibility for her trying to cut herself in class. That might have pushed him to wait for her to get out and have that visual of 100% knowing for sure she is alright. I would hate to see what he would have done if Sofia has not been alright afterwards

Oh, I mean, to me, either way, it’s pretty clear stalking behaviour. I can see where you’re going with it, but it’s still stalking to me. I agree that he might have been trying to make sure she was doing fine, and I hope we get more about that next season, but I still don’t like that he went that far. I feel like there could’ve been better ways to check up on her than sitting outside every day. I also feel like it might have been better if he actually talked to her about it after? I don’t know, I’m just very iffy about it.

so i just finished watching "Control Z" on netflix and that show destroyed my heart, ripped it into pieces, put it back together. punched me everywhere, then gave me pain meds that poisoned me. destroyed my heart AGAIN and had the AUDACITY to end the show on a cliffhanger...

so yeah, i think it's a good show and you should watch it!

I just finished episode 7, and omg what really pushed him over the edge was them talking shit about Sofia. I can totally see his side of things, I mean, his friends are not the best people. It's actually kind of sweet in a way that he did all this for Sofia. I'm really nervous for the final episode now!

Yes, exactly! I really do like that he had very minimal conversations with Sofia in the past(from what we saw at least) but when his friends made fun of her, he instantly knew this was wrong. I definitely do not like how he got all creepy stalker after that, that’s the one thing that really throws me off, but you can’t deny he knows what they did is wrong. His affection for Sofia did kind of creep me out because like I said, they didn’t really seem to know each other much and then he just started stalking her, but I feel like that should be taken as a separate thing entirely. Because the bullying part really isn’t only about Sofia, I do think Raul feels strongly against bullying as we see in episode 1, when Gerry took a leak on Luis’ bag, Raul went over and he was very nice to him, gave him money to go buy himself a new bag.

I just think Raul’s been misunderstood as a bad guy because he’s popular when he’s actually quite considerate towards other people, regardless of social status.

I also agree that Javier is untrustworthy. I think he should have told Sofia stuff when he was first blackmailed instead of covering everything up. Tbh, I don't know who is the worst: Gerry or the Principal. As someone who works with the admin team at a middle school, every single thing that Principal does is awful and wrong and would never happen at my school. From having the creepy flirty secretary, to not protecting students from bullies, to blaming a child for his proposal being turned down.

Alright I’m going to answer this in parts so it doesn’t get too confusing lmao

But yes, I do agree Javier can’t really be trusted after that was revealed. I was... okay with his character at first, he wasn’t my favorite for sure, but he did act nice and friendly, with Sofia and other outcasts at the school and I liked that. But then Sofia and Raul dug into his past and I got iffy about him. I do get that his dad being somewhat a celebrity would want to sweep it under the rug, because in the end, every wrong thing Javier did would end up affecting his own reputation. But at the same time, I do believe by a certain point, Sofia proved him she could be trustworthy with secrets and wouldn’t go blabbing to other people about what he did. Which kind of annoyed me, I would’ve respected him a whole more if he admitted what he did, but instead he kept it to himself, and when he was confronted about it he kind of downplayed it? We for sure don’t know what exactly happened and was said on the balcony so we don’t know if he really pushed the other over the edge or not, but I do feel like that adds even more to the fact we can’t trust him.

Gerry is.......... Alright, I never liked him. At all. He’s the one character I hated the most. Not only was he a bully, but he cared very little about his “friends” and really only had his self-interest in mind the whole time. I do think him being outed like that was wrong, and I do like that he actually came out to Luis’ mom, that moment I liked. But it cannot apologize or explain any of his other actions. I mean, he ended up pushing someone to his death, possibly killing someone else, and I don’t think any of what the other characters have done can top that.

As for Principal Quintanilla, I do agree. He’s terrible. I don’t think the whole creepy secretary thing is all on him, but he DEFINITELY could’ve fired her and replaced her because she was very creepy with the students. I also think that blaming his failed proposal on a child is wrong, definitely, but he also isn’t the only one to do it. But what made it worse was blaming it on a child who is KNOWN for struggling mentally. Surely, he should’ve known that could turn terribly wrong. I also didn’t like the fact he was dating a student’s mom in the first place? I know those happen but it’s still feeling very off to me, and I didn’t like that. But the worst to me is for sure how he completely ignored the whole bully situation. He was aware it was happening, Luis was bruised, his mom even had an appointment to talk about it, and he just brushed it aside, canceling the appointment for a reason, sure, but a reason that could’ve waited for the next day if I’m honest. He did nothing to stop the bully situation, expelled Luis without checking for proofs(he really could’ve only suspended him while they investigated), and expelling Gerry felt very weak after what he did. He is such a terrible person and I hate how Sofia’s mom is with a man like that when she looks like an actual good person(we don’t know that much about her tho, and I do feel there is something suspicious regarding Sofia’s dad and how she might be involved, but we can’t know for sure).

Anyway, bottom line, Gerry and Quintanilla are the actual evils of this show, Raul(and Bruno) and Javier are more like secondary antagonists to me, despite Raul taking the most of the blow in the end.

He didn’t per day force the guy to jump, but he created a pressure to do it. And then the guy ended up dying, and Javier is trying to be a better person

@shamelesslyafangirl I totally agree with you!! Like I said, I could see it as him trying to stop the guy from jumping but it really does feel like he was kinda pressuring him. They also did mention this was part of the initiation of new members and I know(from having been part of sports team) that the captain often pressures more than the other members on the team, and if you’Re new, you kinda want to do it so you can fit in. And they did mention Javier was team captain so it just... it really fits. I don’t think he was actually expecting the guy to jump, or had actually understood the risks of it, but that was the slap in his face that made him try and get better.
