Adeya lets out a long breath as she stares out at the ocean, her knees drawn up to her chest as she sits on one of the rocks down by the shore. “You’re not coming back, are you Asheloux,” she murmurs. “You’ve gone and left me with everything, and no idea of what to do now.”

She sighs softly as she picks up a small pebble and throws it into one of the oncoming waves. “I’ve never wanted to be in charge of anything or anyone. I’m a researcher. I only got involved in this mess because you promised me funding.”

“But it’s become so much more than that,” she murmurs, then she shakes her head and gets to her feet. “So I suppose we’ll just… have to figure out what to do now.”

16. ♥ Do they have at least one bonding activity they devote to doing with their partner exclusively?

I’m going to answer this one for Bast, and the answer is complicated. Bast and Riski often sleep in the same bed, which is something Bast has almost never done with anyone else except in cases of necessity - huddling for warmth on heaps of dirty straw in the Brume, for example, or sharing a bed with his next-oldest sibling as a child because space was limited and his family was large.The only person besides Riski whom Bast has shared a bed with for reasons other than expediency was his oldest sister, Eve. Sometimes, when he was very young, he’d go to her room and crawl into bed with her after having a nightmare, or when he could hear his parents fighting in another room. She was 14 years older than him and trained in combat, so he knew she would protect him.Naturally, sharing a bed with Riski is not quite like sharing one with an older sister when he was a very young child. He doesn’t curl up beside Riski because he feels the need for protection, nor is his love for Riski of the the same sort as his love for Eve. But the commonality between the two relationships is trust. Bast trusts Riski, and that’s why finds it so comfortable to sleep by his side.

Once, Defiant sort of thought it’d be nice... if she had a guardian, like the shining knights in her books. If there was someone who would protect her, do the hard things when she was scared, keep her safe from people who wanted to hurt her.

But she kind of doesn’t think anyone like that can exist anymore?

Truthfully sometimes she wishes otherwise. She wants to be small and scared and have someone protect her, keep her safe when she’s afraid, but the last person she called Guardian.... just speaking the word feels like ash on her tongue. No, she exists to act as guardian to others. That’s the way it should be.

No one will protect her, really, and frankly she thinks it was probably stupid of her to ever imagine someone would.

I was too shy to mention it during the Aurum Vale run last night (I noticed your search info, if that was even you - I was the healer), but happy birthday!

aaaaa yeah, I remember now!! it was totally me and @paissa-brat  suffering in hell leveling on our alts!!! I remember us being so thankful that we had a competent healer compared to our last run (who didn’t know how to press buttons apparently so you can imagine how that went...)

What does your character dislike in other people? | For Val!

Val cannot stand people that willfully take advantage of others, especially those who are already at a disadvantage. Backstabbing and disloyalty is also a cardinal sin in her book. To a lesser extent, she can’t stand bullies and arrogant braggarts, though it’s less of a deal breaker and more of something that’ll get an eye roll, smart-assed comment, and maybe a swing of the fist.

Man, I’d hate A’rihnn’s constant need to be active. He’s a very ‘let’s get up and GO’ type of guy, and I am NOT. I don’t react to spontaneous things well, and in general I’m just not very physically active.
