Lo scorso anno, in questo giorno,
tra queste mura,
il volto di lei e i fiori del pesco
si rispecchiavano, rosei.
Quel volto, io non so
ora dove sia;
i fiori del pesco, come allora,
ridono al vento di primavera.

I'm watching the last episode of 生死相依 right now and Susu came home to her (step)grandmother and their mother as a surprise because she's studying in the US.
And I just thought of the first person I got to know when I was in China. I met her at the airport in Beijing, we were both taking the plane to Kunming. Her name was Sophie and she was from Kunming, but studying in England. At that time my Chinese was still crap, so I was happy, I had someone to talk to in English. We met another person, a liuxuesheng from the US and then Sophie invited both of us exchange students to come to her home after arriving in Kunming.
It was perfect for me because I was all alone, I knew no one in China and it was my first evening outside of Europe of my whole life.
So we went home with her and she surprised her parents. And they weren't excited or something. Not even surprised. Just a little bit happy. Her parents invited us for dinner outside.
It was a beautiful first evening in China and sure, I just behaved like a fucking blind foreigner. But there was no chance to make it better, because I was really happy, there were some people - even if we were strangers and they probably just should have enjoyed family time - caring for me.
When I was in Kunming, Sophie and I met several times, we went to a dance performance, drank naicha, ate some good food, we went once to KTV and got a little drunk. She took me to the bank where her father was working, because there was a small café. And they invited me to their home again and we were eating mushrooms which were picked by Sophie's aunt herself. They told me "if it's mixed up with some other mushroom, you could immediately die", but I ate it anyway. (Would never do this by now anymore ^^)
I still have the photos which Sophie and I took in one of this girly photobooths. I still have photos. But I don't have any emailadress or Facebook name or ... nothing.
In Kunming I was a little bit stressed out by all the new things I got to learn. Everything was new. Everything was strange. I didn't enjoy everything to its limits.
And I regret to have not thought about AFTER, about a way to find Sophie again. I would really like to write her an email. I didn't forget her.
Whatever.
