It’s beginning to look a latte like Christmas

People wonder how Neil could hate the holidays so much. Well, spending money when practically living from paycheck to paycheck was the norm wasn’t exactly ideal. It didn’t really matter if it was just a few pieces of chocolate or a whole damn tin of cookies, money was money. Anyway, Neil bought cookies and placed them in bags for his coworkers. He left each of them where he knew his coworkers would see them. On each he left a note that read:

Happy Holidays. Don’t expect me to be nice all of a sudden.

You did that on purpose, didn’t you? Don’t give this to me again.

"Finally!”

After hours of unpacking and moving things around, Agate was finally moved into her new apartment. She stood by the door of the spare bedroom, hands on her hips, and shoulders back as she admired her work. I did this all by myself, she thought proudly. She spun on her heels to go to the kitchen and make a list of things to buy for herself, she wasn’t sure how the others in this apartment were and the last thing she was going to do was assume that they shared. For all she knew, they could hate each other.

Agate leaned against the kitchen counter as she made herself a grocery list of items she would need and like to have around. As she was writing, she heard the lock to the door turned and the sound of the door opening. Looking up from her paper, she saw a tall brunet walking in.

“Ahh, you must be one of my roommates! I’m Agate.”

Cooking Wine || Marlin & Raeger

It wasn’t often that Marlin worked as the face of the vineyard, selling their wine at the little store on the property. He didn’t exactly scream perfect customer service, whether it was simply through appearance or five minutes spent in his presence. However, sometimes people called out of work, or the vineyard was short handed, and there was only so much bullshit that Marlin could give before he couldn’t get out of filling holes anymore.

So here he was. Trying to pretend that he remembered how to smile on command. Trying to remember how to tweak his voice to sound pleasant.

There was a reason he’d never been the bait during the jobs they pulled back in the day.

Marlin circled around the little store, making sure that everything was where it should be, when he saw a man studying two separate bottles of wine, as if trying to make a decision. Marlin hesitated for a few long seconds before he heaved a sigh and slunk over, hands in his pockets.

“Can I help you make a decision?”
