This morning I had my qualifying exam, passed, and became a #PhD candidate. I’d like to extend my thanks to the often-maligned species that I study - the #mosquitoes. (They’re not all bad!) We have about 80 #species in a dozen genera in #Florida - here are six species, each in a different genus (top left, #Psorophora ciliata; middle left, #Coquillettidia perturbans; bottom left, #Wyeomyia smithii; top right, #Aedes albopictus, one of the vectors of #Zika #virus; middle right, #Culex erraticus; bottom right, #Culiseta melanura.) #entomology #bugs #mosquito #culicidae #gainesville #meetyourneighbours #macro #macrophotography #insect : @biodiversilary

so I started a new position at work trapping and identifying adult mosquitos there's this one genera that is extremely large in size called Culiseta and since only female mosquitos bite we call them Culiseta Mamacita
