Gabriel was in his third year of college when his father remarried, and between classes and his internship, he didn't get to meet the bride to be or her children until only days before wedding.

After the usual homecoming type greetings, Dad sent Gabe upstairs to find his soon to be step-brother, Castiel.  Dropping off his duffel in his own room, he knocked on the door to what was now Cas' room and poked his head inside.  "Castiel?" he called softly, not wanting to startle the other.

Gabriel pecked his little brother on the cheek, hugging him encouragingly.  "You've got this," he assured, ruffling the younger angel's hair playfully before stepping back.  "And I'll be right here, in case you need me."

With a wink, Gabriel faded from the visible light spectrum, unable to be seen but still there.  He settled on the couch, nearby and yet out of the way for the oncoming events.
