Thank You Laci Green
Hi Laci,
I just wanted to thank you so much for your informational videos on YouTube. I originally found your videos on Tumblr, and since then I’ve tried to share them and your name with anyone that happens to bring up any of the subjects you have covered. I go to a catholic school where girls are commonly called sluts and bitches for being comfortable with who they are or just having more than one boyfriend a school year. Where I have seen and heard a group of high-schoolers talking about how hard they “fucked that whore.” People during my classes talking about someone they know making a girl bleed and thinking that that was the greatest thing that can happen to her. I wanted to thank you because my teacher understood that that is not okay and allowed me to show you video of “popping your cherry” and how it should not happen and later in the day some of the same group of kids spreading your name to their friends. Because I have a hard time getting my words out the way I want them I go to your videos to be able to explain the way I’m feeling about these subjects and explain them better than I ever could.
Thank you for everything, Laci. You’ve honestly helped me grow into myself and spread awareness about issues that don’t get talked about enough. So, thank you.

I was getting gelato today and the girl serving it to me said I look like Laci Green and I just hutjgjefjfjegjgjg I'm so honored Laci Green is so awesome and so pretty ahh
Nothing makes me have more feels than when the womyn of Tumblr are real, are genuine, and are so honest with the people who look up to them.
I'm looking at you Alb, Cathy, Natalie, Lauren, and Lacie.
You are all bright and shining stars of positivity and love, even when you're very candid about going through rough times. I look up to you all, and I hope things turn around.
Depression and anxiety and hard times are real parts of life. Being a human is really really hard, and I think it's amazing that we have this amazing internet community who affirms and supports each other through these times.
Just had the best sex ever with Laci Green. Excellent job.
JESSICA HAS A THEORY ABOUT "FIFTY SHADES OF GREY"
ok! so!
as we all know (here on tumblr, anyway), 50 Shades of Grey is a joke and we can easily find better written smut on here any time we want, but the rest of America don't know that. despite the source of the smut, though, why is it that SO MANY WOMEN found this book so entertaining? it can't be the "educated look into the world of BDSM" because that's bullshit (and we'd call you out for it -- as has a lot of the BDSM-practicing community!).
so, why is this book so attractive? i have a theory! an "equalitarian" theory.
SO, we all hide the smut we're reading online so we're not judged by our parents/co-workers/bosses/etc. but we still admit to reading it to our friends and i, for one, honestly wouldn't be all that embarrassed to admit it to my mom that i read it.
so, why (again, i ask), do so many women like this book? i think it's because it's given them permission. under whatever guise they decided to use, 50 Shades of Grey (and other equally-poorly written but very sexually-charged fiction) can be read with a sort of given permission by the masses (since it's seen as actual literature and not just lowly PWP) without being shamed for expressing their interest in sex.
on tumblr, we judge the book for it's misrepresentations of BDSM and it's extremely poor use of adjectives and awful plot (and the fact that it's based off of some really badly written ff in the first place), not the sexual aspect of it. we don't judge the sex part because we're all a bunch of pretty liberated folk here.
but the rest of the world is NOT tumblr (thank god), so people (namely, women) have to find excuses to get to express themselves sexually or embrace their sexualities, and (terribly written) romantic fiction is that free pass to do so.
but why do they need a pass to express themselves? you guessed it! THE PATRIARCHY.
so why did 50 Shades of Grey do so well? because women all over the world are being held down by the man (literally!!) and feel unable to express themselves sexually, so they all jumped at the chance to read explicit sex scenes out in public without being judged (well, okay, maybe just not being judged as much as they might have otherwise -- unless the person judging them is from tumblr).
solution: men (and society) need to stop suppressing the sexual urges, desires. fantasies, and thoughts of women so then eventually, if they still feel the need to buy smut fiction, at least they won't jump at the chance to read the +50k one with all of the grammatical errors and a "I suck at summaries" disclaimer in the description.
(Laci, you are being tagged because I thought you might like my theory.)
i knew there was a reason i watched this show
