Rounding out a successful first week of inktober with a pair of fluffy bunnies 🐰🐰
I completed the mock-up of my first zine today. Next I'm off to the printers!

They may not be fuzzy, but they sure are cute! Introducing the NZ Northland green gecko (Naultinus grayii).
These geckos are bright green with white, black, grey or yellow markings. The males also have blue flanks. When threatened they sometimes run and bark at the offender.
This species of gecko are in decline and at risk. They and their habitat need protecting.

Just as I thought I was back on track with my daily drawing challenge day 14 disappeared on me before I found a moment to pick up a pen.
It seemed appropriate then to feature the humble turtle in today's illustration. Not known for their speed, but then speed isn't always the key to success.

From A to Zebra Finiches; this illustration completes my inktober collection of exotic pets!
I wasn't sure when I started this month whether I would make it to the end of 31 line art illustrations, having not made it much past day 8 in previous year's attempts.
I'm feeling proud to have achieved this goal I set myself, and to have improved my drawing skills and confidence significantly in the process 😊

I first discovered degu in a pet store in UK, but prior to that had never heard of these adorable beings!
Though there are none here in New Zealand, I've had a soft spot for these critters ever since.
